Speedy Speedy Birthers! (+poll!)

CatharsisItIs · 29/05/2008 22:47

DD1 ~ 4 hrs

DD2 ~ 2 hrs

DD3 ~ 1 hr

DC4 : I'm starting to worry just a mite. A pattern of half the time of the previous labour appears to be forming. I am going to cease sneezing/coughing/even hiccoughing from about 30 weeks, just to be sure!

Any tips to share on coping with speedy births, anyone?

Anyone's labours follow a similar pattern?

that's so funny!

DS1 - 10hrs
DS2 - 5hrs
DD - 3hrs

I too am refraining from any sort of sudden bodily mobements from now on! Oh and don't forget to tuck your trousers into your socks just incase

Beauregard · 29/05/2008 22:50

DD1-4 hours 30

DD2-50 minutes or so(non assisted homebirth)

Cross your legs

xx

amybswansea · 30/05/2008 08:36

DS1 - 1.5 hours. Luckily my waters broke first meaning they asked me to go in.

We live at least 45 minutes from the hospital on a good day. During the summer holidays the road blocks up and it could be hours. DD due August bank holiday time. Hmmm.

Consultant/midwife/doctor - whoever looks at my notes for the first time does a double take, raises their eyebrows and says something along the lines of "interesting".

When I say I want a homebirth they practically fall at my feet saying what a wonderful idea despite talking me out of the idea last time. Just need to keep fingers crossed my blood pressure doesnt go up this time but you have to ask which is more of a risk really dont you!

Have visions of myself having DD in the frozen food aisle of tesco or something...

EffiePerine · 30/05/2008 08:39

When you say labour, do you mean active labour or the pushing stage? Would be about 4 hours or 50 mins depending (DS).

laidbackinengland · 30/05/2008 08:39

Had DS3 in 45 minutes from first contraction to birth at home. I think as they get quicker you might as well have them at home ..rather than in a layby/carpark/footwell.

popsycal · 30/05/2008 08:40

ds1 - under 4 hours
ds2 - slightly over 1 hour from first contraction to holding him in my arms....

DS3 is due in September and to say I am a little worried is a massive understatement!

Piffle · 30/05/2008 08:40

ds1 45 mins
dd 37 mins
ds2 7 hrs.....
buck the trend somewhat....
actually he was prob the same as the others. Once it got serious he was out in seconds

ladytophamhatt · 30/05/2008 08:42

ds1- about 14 hours

ds2-3hrs 45 mins

ds3- 2hrs 16mins

ds4- 4hrs 10 mis

so it doesn't always mean half teh time...

popsycal · 30/05/2008 08:43

Oh piffle - you have given me hope. I would love a seven hour labour with ds3

popsycal · 30/05/2008 08:44

Pushing stage for ds2 was, ooooooooh, about 2 minutes.....

god I am panicking

Minniethemoocher · 30/05/2008 08:57

DD1 - Official time of 1 hour, 40 mins! But I did have some niggles for about 4 hours before... Pushed for about 2 minutes then out she popped! Not bad for a 39 year old!

PeachyWontLieToYou · 30/05/2008 09:08

mine got much quicker everytime- mw just made it last time

suggest homebrth!

i dont have oushing stages, they wriggle out themselves (usually with a w going i told you not to push.... )

detoxdiva · 30/05/2008 09:28

2cm-pushing = 2.5 hrs
pushing = 25 mins

hoping no.2 will be just as straightforward

ShowOfHands · 30/05/2008 09:35

I took a lousy 26hrs (em cs eventually but may still have been labouring a year on otherwise). Friend however was:

dd1: 17hrs
ds1: 3hrs
dd2: 1.5hrs
ds2: 45mins

I was there for the last 2

Effie, mine were from the start of extablished labour.

Piffle, you got my hopes up for a minute there

To be honest, I quite like quick labours, I don't particularly want to be home alone with 3DC's birthing by myself though!

amybswansea · 30/05/2008 11:36

By active I meant from 3 cm (or whatever it is) until out - and the pushing bit actually took 45 minutes as he was stuck.

I really wanted a HB anyway so am chuffed - just would quite like the MW to get there...well anyone really - DH is at least 45 minutes away.

Perhaps DS (2 years) could deliver...

Tutter · 30/05/2008 11:37

ds1: 4 hours
ds2: 1hr 15mins

CatharsisItIs · 30/05/2008 11:54

extablished?! Established.... though not even 3cm AFAIK. No idea with DD3 as no hand other than my own was permitted anywhere near my bits

OP posts:
MKG · 30/05/2008 14:41

DS1--6 hours
ds2--4 hours (if that)

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 14:55

DD1 - 4h 20m

DD2 - 2h 30m

DD3 - will tell you in about 6 weeks

Times were from first "ouch that was a painful BH to baby out"

tiredlady · 30/05/2008 15:01

From proper first painful contraction to delivery:
Ds1 - 2 hrs 15 mins
Ds2 - 25 minutes
Dd1 - elective section

yomellamoHelly · 30/05/2008 15:01

Ds1 4 hours
Ds2 2 hours - but he was back to back and could feel him knocking into my bones with every contraction. So I'm sure that slowed it down.

needahand · 30/05/2008 15:01

May I just say how I am at all of you speedy ladies!

elliegirl · 30/05/2008 15:40

DD - 2 1/4 hrs - hoping the next one will be the same!
