Baby feels very low in pelvis - does it mean she’s going to come early?

I’m 35 weeks and since about 29 weeks on and off I’ve felt like my baby is very low in my pelvis, it’s very uncomfortable when I walk and feel like I need to pee all the time, feels very heavy like she might fall out! But then she moves and it doesn’t feel like that anymore. Does this mean she is likely to come early?

this is my second baby and I don’t remember this feeling with my first. He was a planned c section at 39 weeks and I never went into labour.

Normal and doesn’t mean anything. Baby will come when it’s ready.

AdmiralCoconut · 26/11/2024 22:43

Think that's very normal with 2nds. Even some 1sts. Not really an indication of anything, sorry.

CissOff · 26/11/2024 22:45

Agree it’s normal for a second baby.

Sadly, despite feeling like they’ll fall out, it’s the same old rigmarole to get them out as it was the first time 😉

Edited to add, I believe they can engage/disengage far easier the second time around. Whereas with #1 they apparently engage and stay there. That may account for it feeling off/on

Peonyyyy · 26/11/2024 22:46

Oh good, thank you! I’m glad as I really don’t want her to come until her planned date (after Christmas)! Fingers crossed 😅🤪

wouldn’t it be lovely if they just fell out though! Save all the faff

I had this with my second and he was at least a week late.

Stopsnowing · 26/11/2024 22:49

Yes als my bump for no 2 seemed to go up and down a lot!

WhatMe123 · 02/12/2024 22:22

First babies tend to do this quite soon. You can feel them in your pelvis for weeks so no sorry it's not a sign 😬

WhatMe123 · 02/12/2024 22:23

Sorry I meant subsequent babies not first. Also your pelvis is less tight after your first so second babies can feel lower just as everything has already been stretched

I'm 36weeks I constantly feel like he's going going to fall out in pain all the time can't sleep back ace tummy ache i don't think be long , this is my 4th baby

Peonyyyy · 05/12/2024 04:22

@WhatMe123 it definitely feels that way!

i am finding it much harder to walk/stand up/sit down/do anything this time as she is often so low.

it feels so different to my last pregnancy. I don’t know how women can do this loads of times, I’m so done 😅😅

Not necessarily, my daughters never felt low until further on one was born at 36 weeks and one 38. My son felt so low from much earlier and as I got further on I literally felt he was going to fall out. He was only two days early but he did literally almost fall out in the end. Woke in the night involuntarily pushing and could feel his head, panted the whole way to hospital against my body pushing against my will and had him as soon as we got in the assessment room. Never had one contraction pain and had dilated silently.

WhatMe123 · 05/12/2024 06:33

It is mad how much a second baby feels different to your first isn't it. I've only had two, I can imagine how a third or fourth must feel 🙈

Michah89 · 06/12/2024 10:19

I'm hoping it will be quick for me as it's my 4th 🙂

MarigoldSpider · 06/12/2024 21:26

No, my second felt like she was low enough to come out from about 38 weeks. She was born at 41 weeks (spontaneous labour) the same as her older brother.

Michah89 · 22/12/2024 16:37

I'm 39 weeks and can't walk with out pain even turning over in bed is painful I'm at midwife on Tuesday and she's going to do a sweep so hopefully that will start me off

Elisabeth3468 · 22/12/2024 18:44

I feel the same.
How you getting on OP?
I'm 39 weeks Christmas Day

Peonyyyy · 22/12/2024 20:14

@Elisabeth3468 I am 39 weeks on Christmas Day too! C section is on the 27th. Baby is very low from time to time, feels like someone digging around in my pelvis 😅 hoping baby stays put through Christmas and Boxing Day! How are you doing?

Elisabeth3468 · 22/12/2024 20:15

@Peonyyyy oooo that's exciting! I'm getting so many braxton hicks and cramps, it's just a tease haha. But yes I'd rather her stay put now until after Christmas!
I have a sweep booked on 27th so I'm hoping that gets things going x

Michah89 · 23/12/2024 08:43

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow he's so far in my pelvic it hurts to walk I just want him out now tbh sweep tomorrow at midwife. App so hopefully that will set him off but I'm getting odd contractions and that now so I don't think will be long thank god

Peonyyyy · 23/12/2024 09:27

Good luck to you guys 🙂

last night she was so low in my pelvis it felt like she was coming out, everything has moved down a lot, the kicks at the top were middle of my belly rather than my ribs and the movement of her head/hands was sooo low in my pelvis, below my c section scar, felt like there was literally NO room for her to move in there

i was quite worried I’d go into labour last night. It so far nothing thankfully. Please not on Christmas Day!!

Elisabeth3468 · 27/12/2024 10:12

How's everyone getting on? 39 plus 2 today and they couldn't do a sweep because cervix was too posterior and long
