What time did you get asked to go in, and what time did you go to theatre? I know it varies and EMCS can push it back but I’m just curious!

I was asked to be at the hospital for 7 and I didn’t go down to theatre until about midday. Medically required but baby was comfortable and in no rush to leave, so there was little urgency.

TokyoSushi · 06/08/2024 22:21

8am, DD was born at 13:48!

lazylegumes · 06/08/2024 22:21

Asked to be there by 8, went into theatre about 9, DS2 was born about 9.45. It was my second and I've got challenges around getting a spinal block in.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 06/08/2024 22:22

I was second on the list, think i went at 9.

TheMerryAquaBird · 06/08/2024 22:22

Same here, into hospital early (might have been 6am) then delivered at midday. I think I was the third elective of the day.

romdowa · 06/08/2024 22:22

I was asked to come in at 6 am , I told them not a hope and came in at 8 am. Was down to theater at 11 .

JuneWind · 06/08/2024 22:22

I was asked to go in at 7am, went down around 9am. Non emergency and fully elective. Think I was lucky as was something like 2nd on the list.

tryingtocatchthewind · 06/08/2024 22:23

7:30 arrived and baby was born at 9:15am. My hospital has two theatres so you don’t tend to be bumped for EMCSs. Four women booked in each morning for electives and they prioritise the trickiest first.

Darcy86 · 06/08/2024 22:23

I was asked to go in at 7am and I didn't go down until about 3pm ish. I was bloody starving! I was 5th on the list I think if I remember rightly.

OperationalSupport · 06/08/2024 22:25

I think it was 7am for assessment, they came and told us the order at 8am, i was called in around 10:30 and baby was born around 11am. I was second on the list, but first on the list was a complex case needing general anaesthetic.

Same! 😞
They prioritise so I was last as had already been in hospital a few weeks (transverse baby)

Littleoldme12 · 06/08/2024 22:43

Asked to go in for 7am, got bloods etc done and sat around for a while, told I could go home around 930am and come back again for 12pm. Did that, eventually got to theatre about 230ish, DD born at 3.10pm

NoWordForFluffy · 06/08/2024 22:45

I was already there, thanks to DS being an unstable transverse lie. I was first on the list but didn't get in until about 12.15 due to somebody having a really bad tear just before I was meant to go in.

whoateallthecookies · 06/08/2024 23:07

Another one there already as DD was transverse - policy at our hospital is to put those already admitted first if possible, presumably to free up the antenatal bed, but I'd been told the surgeon I was assigned wouldn't be in until 10. At 8.20 he appeared asking if I was ready - I was fine, but DH barely made it! Surgery started at 9.15; DD was born at 9.40 (the surgery was never going to be entirely straightforward for me)

meganna · 06/08/2024 23:10

7.30am, and DS was born at 3.30pm! There were 3 electives and I was the least medically worrying case so I was last, plus two emergencies around midday.

OdeToBarney · 06/08/2024 23:15

11am. DD born just after 4pm. Felt like forever! Felt very sorry for the third on the list 😬

Posypippin · 07/08/2024 06:54

With my 1st baby I was in for 7am and she was born just after 9am. This time they’ve asked me to go in for 11am and really expecting to be hanging around. I’m worried about the not eating as I’m a typical pregnant women who feels very nauseous if I don’t constantly snack.

it’s not even 7am and I’m hungry and want a cup of tea!

So my c section got cancelled today due to 2 emergencies. I got all the way to theatre and was a minute away from having the spinal when we got told we need to leave theatre for the emergency. We then waited 2 hours to be told another emergency had gone in and we had to go home. I’ve not stopped shaking since being in theatre I feel slightly traumatised. (Could be the fact I haven’t eaten since last night)

I wasnt too nervous before I went in but going so close and having it stopped was awful. Just hope those needing the EMCS are okay :(

Having my third section ( first elective ) in Oct
The consultant has put me first on the list as there's 2 theatres one for emergency and one for elective

Oh wow! How awful for you

kirinm · 07/08/2024 18:28

Think I went in around 7am and daughter was born at 10am. I was the first.

Posypippin · 07/08/2024 19:06

We have been asked to be there for 7.30am tomorrow so I’m hoping that means we will be an early slot and less chance of it happening again

In hospital for 7am, first on list. Prepped, ready ... then emergency after emergency came in and were rightfully prioritised. Finally had mine at 5pm. I was starving and so thirsty (only allowed sips of water all day).

Best ever tea and toast afterwards though. And a baby of course!

elliejjtiny · 07/08/2024 19:26

I was already in because of risk of cord prolapse but my c-section was scheduled for 1pm and I was taken down to theatre at 9am the next day. The last scheduled for the 9am slot complained about me taking her space.

Posypippin · 07/08/2024 19:34

I’m actually very shocked at how many births end up emergency c sections. I was told they had 4 emergencies today, 2 early in the morning before we arrived and then the 2 that pushed us back. Scary
