C section tummy

How long did it take your tummy to shrink back down if you didn’t put on extra weight in pregnancy (apart from the actual pregnancy of course 😂 ) but I mean if you didn’t extra weight on top of that?

Once the weight came off I am left with a sad sack like tummy that I tuck into my knickers and has remained that way ever since 😂

Is this because of the C section or just general childbirth ?

Same as me. My last C-section was almost 3 years ago. For SOME women it CAN reduce slightly with exercising but most of the time the only fix is a tummy tuck surgery which will give you a flatter belly but a much larger scar than any C-section scar.

Hang on, think I might have misunderstood your question, do you mean the actual bump part of your belly that you have straight after baby is born? Like an empty bump? I originally thought you meant a C-section overhang.

If that's what you meant, mine went down roughly 2/3 weeks after birth.

I mean the big saggy tummy xx

About 8-10 weeks maybe? It's not as tight as pre babies but I don't have to 'tuck' anything in

The section.

After my first baby I was back in my normal jeans about 5 weeks after the c section. I was thankful the swelling went down quite quickly. I have a little ‘pouch’ that sits just above the c section scar but within a year it softer slightly but doesn’t fully leave. I was 29 when I had my first.

I had my second baby 3 months ago and took a lot longer to return to a normal ish body for me. I’ve found this time that when I’ve focused on core exercises I’ve been less bloated.

hermionelodge · 25/05/2024 21:45

I have a big overhang from mine, she will be 4 this August! I'm currently pregnant and will be having a section again, but this time I'm going to work on massaging the scar tissue. Apparently, this is meant to he helpful. Will also be going for a 'mummy mot' where they can assess you and provide exercises to help with muscle separation, etc. Hoping to really reduce the pouch this time round!

Motherrr · 25/05/2024 22:24

2.5 years after twins and it never has, I still get asked if I'm pregnant on a regular basis :/ and genuinely do look it. I have diastasis recti like many mums and most twin mums. Hoping to get surgery to sort that and a hernia too so I can get back to some sort of normal...

mrssunshinexxx · 26/05/2024 07:00

2 emc age 31 back to size 10 although pregnant again tummy got flat but had a small shelf / overhang that I honestly hate. If I end up choosing an elective I want to bed the surgeon to remove the excess scar tissue / fat because that's what it is but know I'll just be laughed at

I’ve had 2 electives and asked about scar tissue. The surgeon said that if the scar tissue from the first section was removed that it wouldn’t make any difference as new scar tissue would form from the second section anyway.

Sxdrivemismatch · 26/05/2024 08:20

Size 6, was back in my jeans after 5 weeks, took me 6 months to get to a flat tummy again but still have the tiniest bit of overhang. Don’t put pressure on yourself to lose quickly. Give your body time to heal. And this is coming from someone with a diagnosed eating disorder. It’s imperative you look after yourself.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/05/2024 09:24

Urgh really ?! @Hiddenvoice then why do some people get no overhang at all? X

Ornamentalcabbages · 26/05/2024 09:33

I didn't put on any extra weight, and even with a twin pregnancy, my bump went down in about 4-6w, with no overhang. I am very active and slim build though, so might depend on your pre-pregnancy body type/lifestyle, but it honestly went down quicker than expected.

Caveat - I breastfed which helps contract your uterus.

Nottherealslimshady · 26/05/2024 09:37

My belly looks completely normal now. I gained alot of weight AFTER giving birth. Lost it when DS was about 18months ish. You could barely see the scar and in all honesty, I don't exactly love my body, but you wouldn't know I'd carried a child and had them cut out of me.

I'm pregnant again now so we'll see how well it all goes back this time!

Peaceandquiet9276 · 26/05/2024 09:42

I didn’t get an overhang with either c sections I had.

InTheRainOnATrain · 26/05/2024 09:51

I’ve had 2 sections and both times it took 6 weeks because that’s the time it takes for your uterus to shrink back down to normal size. No lasting changes beyond that except my belly button is a slightly different shape!

28 and 32

Spinner12345 · 26/05/2024 12:29

I don’t have an overhang and look pretty similar to before I got pregnant (save that my rib cage is definitely wider and boobs much saggier!). I’m one year postpartum, 32 and massage my scar regularly
