C section tummy

How long did it take your tummy to shrink back down if you didn’t put on extra weight in pregnancy (apart from the actual pregnancy of course 😂 ) but I mean if you didn’t extra weight on top of that?

I had an emergency section (aged 29) and I would say I was back to normal 6 months pp, smaller with no overhang/flat belly a year pp. Also breastfed. Didn't put any pressure on myself to get back to "normal" as a large part of it is so out of your control.

Thanks - how old were you ?

32 and 36

Autumn1990 · 26/05/2024 13:43

No overhang after my first by emcs. I had a second by VBAC and now I have an overhang

BurbageBrook · 26/05/2024 13:47

I have no overhang 10 months PP. Probably had normal tummy back by 6m.

I think it depends on your scar tissue following the section. Whilst my stomach went down really quickly-I can only make small babies so never had a massive bump; I do have what I call my kangaroo pouch 😬 My scar is solidly adhered and I have an overhang. It won’t go no matter what I do.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 26/05/2024 13:49

And I breastfed all 3 DC, so I don’t think that has any effect on your eventual overhang possibility.

Urgh really ?! @Hiddenvoice then why do some people get no overhang at all? X

Luck I think. I don't have any overhang, but I wasn't huge during pregnancy either. I've had two sections. My tummy is a bit looser, but there is nothing that requires tucking in.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/05/2024 13:56

@smooshraspberry also slim here 8/10 pre pregnancies now size 10 pregnant with my third but there's like a little ledge I did a lot of exercise before and inbetween and I couldn't get rid of it it really gets me down

olympicsrock · 26/05/2024 14:04

Most people get scarring that causes the tissue to be pulled in . Any fat therefore hangs over the scar. Weigh loss helps somewhat.

I don't know if age is necessarily a factor in this op.

BurbageBrook · 26/05/2024 15:15

@Boohoo123456 32.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 26/05/2024 18:26

@Boohoo123456 first baby 31 (32 4 weeks later) second baby 34

I had twins by c section at 37. I was about bmi 23 when I feel pregnant, I already had one child by then.

I wouldn't say I have an overhang, certainly nothing to tuck in, but my body is a bit puffy above the scar line. Not sure if you have a bigger scar with twins.

I'm 54 now and about half a stone over my pre pregnancy wait.
