Is it normal for my epistomy area to still ache 3 months on?

Hi all!

I had an episiotomy coming up to nearly 3 months ago this Thursday.

It's still feeling really achey and I find it's a lot worse if I'm tired. Is this normal? The doctor that checked me last said it was a significant cut that was made but looked as though it was healing.

I just don't feel back to normal still & every time I google, it indicates nothing really about the aching feeling.

@veeolay oh wow! 4 years on! 😬poor you! I'm worried I might be the same as my doc said it was quite a deep cut! X

It doesn't disrupt my life in any way at all now, I just occasionally get an ache for a few mins or TMI if the angle isn't quite right during sex. Otherwise I don't notice it on a day to day basis. Although the couple of times I've been for a smear since the nurse has commented that she can see where i tore Blush

I’m 59. No pain now at all since birth of DS 30 years ago!

As above, it hurt on and off for 5 years

This will sound strange but it's 10 years since my first one with my son, really deep severe cut and I still randomly get a shooting pain 🙈 it can take me a good 5-10mins to shake the pain

Me too. Around my period it all feels heavy and uncomfortable too.

I have quite a lot of scar tissues which gets sore if it’s stretched etc - a physio told me to try and massage it out a bit.
