I'm currently 40+5. Been having contractions since yesterday morning. Mostly manageable yesterday, went out and about we walked around. Went to the chip shop for tea etc. bit of discomfort last night but did sleep.

Today... the pains have got worse and worse as the days gone on (which obv they do). I've been losing my plus over the last few days but not my water.

Anyway bottom line is I just can't cope with the pain. Seriously agonising, crying groaning etc. I rang the hospital and they said go up. I AM ONLY 2CM DILATED. They offered me to stay but on the ward (not delivery obv) without my partner or take 60mg of codeine and go home. Opted for the codeine and honestly it hasn't touched the pain. I am still writhing about every 5 minutes (contractions are about 90 seconds).

Really don't think I can do this and super stressed what I'm going to be like at 6,8,10 cm.

I have tried everything. Baths. On the ball. Walking around. Sitting down. Standing up. Leaning over. Paracetamol. Hot water bottle. Nothing is helping me.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I know I'm pathetic too so don't need comments telling me how bad it's going to get and I'm in for a shock etc.

Thanks all. Just been up for the first night feed. Bum done, fed, reswaddled and back down. Currently laying here listening to some white noise, waves lapping. He is very content and healthy.

Forgot to add that aswell as my cord being too short it snapped when baby was lifted out. Midwife said yesterday that would have been catastrophic if it had happened during a natural labour. They had to stitch me up quicker than usual as I was losing blood quickly (1.1 litres by the end and I've ended up anaemic) so I'm a bit more tender than usual due to a bit more tugging.

Back to the usual worries now, is he saying enough, is he poking enough.. is he breathing enough 😂 motherhood anxiety but he's a peachy little man so I will let him off

Sorry is he eating enough, pooing enough and breathing enough that should have been. Not sure if it's tiredness or my phone 😉

Baby is back to back actually. No but I could get partner to go out and get me one first thing. Do they help?

If baby is back to back, get on your hands & knees, if you can manage, go down onto your elbows & wave your bum about, the pain is because baby is resting on all the nerves in your back. Hands & knees may encourage them to move to normal position & take the pressure off your back. Are you feeling your contractions in your bladder? That was where mine were at their worst, it felt like hundreds of UTI's rolled into one.
