What next? Does this mean things will kick off soon?

Mw seemed fairly confident that the baby would be born today or tomorrow (but this is the same mw who said it was unlikely I'd get to term).

oh dear , you sound really down

lie on the sofa and watch telly, and eat cream cakes if all else fails !!

focus on the positive, you are almost halfway dilated, you are favourable, and it is a beautiful sunny day!

MuffinMclay · 13/02/2008 15:25

No not down at all, honestly. I feel very relaxed indeed - most out of character. Beautiful sunny day here too.

The house is eerily quiet and still. Ds is away at MIL's house, dog is in kennels, dh at work. I'm just waiting for something (waters breaking, a contraction) to happen.

Muffin is going to Mclay a baby soon! Sorry, just couldn't help myself at all!
Good luck with getting contractions soon!

in that case, enjoy the peace before teh Mclaying starts !

mom2latinoboys · 13/02/2008 15:30

Muffin, don't worry about anything it will happen when it happens. A friend of mine was 4cm for 2 weeks before finally going into labor, and a woman that came in to work a few weeks ago was 5cm. Every one told her it was going to to happen, but nothing did so she just carried on as normal.

Try to relax, and let it happen.

lollipopmother · 13/02/2008 15:30

I'm thinking you probably just put that smiley face to appease me, the Mclay a baby thing has been said before hasn't it

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2008 15:52

just out of curiosity how do you know they're BHs and not the real thing? i didn't have any and have never understood

lollipopmother · 13/02/2008 15:59

I was thinking the same as above I have to admit.

MuffinMclay · 13/02/2008 16:09

First time for the Mclay gag.

I'm pretty sure they are just BH, not contractions. I've been having them a lot for 3/4 weeks now. If anything, these are less painful than usual.

2 weeks at 4cm. Not what I wanted to hear.

I had a sweep (early morning appt) at 40+9 - midwife was very confident that it would all happen soon. I had no symptons all day, had a vigorous walk mid-afternoon and gave birth within 3 hours of first contraction the following morning.

Best wishes for a speedy result!

liahgen · 13/02/2008 18:40

last baby, (no 5)

had sweep on Monday, was 4cms and bishops score good, Mw said if she was allowed, she could have broken waters there and then!!!

lots bh that night, then Thurs night, 10pm, straight into 3mins apart. dd born 5.59 Friday am.

Good luck, lots walking, clary sage bath, massage, sex?

MuffinMclay · 13/02/2008 19:09

I'm due at the hospital tomorrow morning for monitoring (still got pre-eclampsia symptoms), and am hoping they will break the waters then if nothing has kicked off.

mom2latinoboys · 13/02/2008 19:28

Good luck to you. Just try to relax.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/02/2008 21:27

Ah, just found this thread after posting on your 'Robin' one.

Best of luck! If you stay in hospital tomorrow and want me to post an update then just drop me a text.

Lulumama · 13/02/2008 21:29

if they break your waters, that is it, you are in until the baby comes ! do you want to be induced? anyhoo, good luck, whatever you decide x

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/02/2008 21:34

She was induced with ds1 lulu, and doesn't seem averse to it again from what she's said before.

whomovedmychocolate · 13/02/2008 21:39

Oh come on MuffinMclay jump up and down a bit, some of us have to get up in the morning. Can't sit up all night waiting for you

Bet you are at least 5cm by now

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2008 21:46

I'll see your 5 and raise you 1
Good luck for tomorrow

T2M · 13/02/2008 22:10

Just got my nightcap and picking up my knitting, I think I will just have time to knit some booties if you are already 4cms

4cm is very favourable , is there perhaps a little niggling concern you have keeping you in limbo. Be true to yourself and beleive in the wonder of your body and see yourself cuddling your special baby.

Plan an early night, get some sleep and let go, labour often starts in the early hours so fingers crossed and sending positive birth vibes

belgo · 14/02/2008 07:33

muffinmclay - hope all is well!

VictorianSqualor · 14/02/2008 11:28

Any news?

babylove21 · 14/02/2008 16:56

reading with interest ---- well anyone know whats happened ?

MuffinMclay · 15/02/2008 14:52

I'm back, and have a baby boy! 7lb 7oz and in perfect health.

Still no contractions by Thursday morning. Went to the hospital for monitoring, and they decided to admit me and break my waters. Waters broken at 1.30pm, contractions started by 3pm, baby born just over an hour later! Fast, furious, and very painful.

Back home now, very tired and a bit shell-shocked, but otherwise fine.

Still haven't agreed on a name.
