Can I have a show of hands if your baby was posterior yet you still went into labour before induction?

Pregnant with number 3 and this baby, like the last 2 has turned posterior.

My other babies were very late and induced eventually and I cant help but make the connection in my head that posterior = late due to not enough pressure from babies head on cervix etc

I would be really interested to hear about people who had babies in posterior positions yet still went into labour on their own/on time!

Thanking you~!

both mine were posterior and neither were induced. DD was 8 days late, DS was either 4 days late or one day early, depending on dates. Good luck

I was slouched over onto the sofa on all fours. I don't know if it hindered positioning but at that point I felt the need to slow things down.

Eaaaassssy does it DS4.

ds2 was posterior and was born the day after his due date

Both of mine were posterior. Went into labou with the first one after waters broke but with second waters broke but no progress so they helped it along with pessaries then drip.

Me too, I was 40 weeks plus 4 days when I started LOOOOONG labour, and 41 weeks when DD finally popped out. Started at home, after three days of 5 min intevals contractions and no sleep, I was only 3 cm dilated and went to hospital, had a Lovely Epidural, got to sleep for 8 hours on a table while my labour was augmented and she turned, I delivered on my side, they held my leg in the air while I pushed, felt a bit like being in a pantomime version of childbirth. She came out the right way, no tearing, I was laughing! It can be knackering but OP isn't a disaster as long as you are prepared to change your plans when you feel it is not going your way!

did anyone else think op labour was more agony than OA? This time was just soo much backache i could hardly stand it, but God, how quick it was!! i think ive got a dodgy pelvis and im doomed for op babies despite using birthing ball for weeks and weeks before had ds2 and adopting all the right positions in labour etc it made not one jot of difference!

I would love OA labour, it must be piece f cake

1st baby posterior, born after 32 hour labour, spot on the due date, no induction.

shreddies · 07/12/2007 22:25

DS was posterior and nine days late. No induction.

bosch · 07/12/2007 22:26

DS1 was OP and I went into labour naturally at 41+5, the day before induction was booked for. All started really well at 8.30am but by mid afternoon he was stuck and by 8/9pm it became obvious I needed a c/s to get him out. OP was undiagnosed until mid c/s.

DS2 was not OP and was born two days less overdue than ds1!

BJB21 I agree with you totally...

DS was posterior and born after 7 hours without induction 7 days over due date.............BUT the pain was unreal..[sorry pecka) ime I felt I wasn't prepared by my mw etc and I felt niaeve (sp..) ALL forms of pain relief failed me, from birthing pool,g&a,epidural,to diamorphine... I eventually birthed ds naturally at 9lb 13 ozs and at 4ft 11in that was massive for me.

DD (my 1st) was 9lb 4 and born after 11 hours of the birthing pool and g&a....oh how different births can be.!!

All I can say is yes posterior babies do come naturally and can be birthed BUT be prepared...it does hurt (ime more than "normal") and you need to be aware of this. Good luck. x

DD was OP - she arrived 3 weeks early after a 16 hour labour so not too bad. I found the Tens machine helped a lot but I know this doesn't work for everyone.
