Night dresses for BF and post C Section

3rd baby but 1st CSection.....Could I get away with loose pyjamas? Or is that a ridiculous suggestion considering I will have had major abdo surgery?

I hate night dresses and will only use them if I have to. I'd much rather sleep /lie awake all night with a newborn naked but I'm sure the other patients recovering around me would rather not be subjected to that!!

I can only find light coloured night dresses online for around £15 each. Ideally wanted something dark in colour.

Any suggestions?

I’m using next maternity pjs they are so nice, pink pair and a blue pair with white Lily’s on. Easy to breastfeed with. Also got John Lewis c section pants!!

I'm due my 3rd c-section soon. I've always just worn maternity/nursing pyjamas, or loose jammies in a big size. I have about a hundred pairs as I basically wore them all the time at home unless I was going somewhere!

This time round I got a maternity nightie from George at Asda. It's not particularly dark coloured but it's so comfy and loose and has a nursing part at the chest.

I think from memory (it's hazy!) I wore massive black pants and a loose t-shirt or feeding vest in the bed on the night immediately after the section. You'll have a catheter in so it needs to be able to poke out of the pants. It was also absolutely boiling on the ward!

Try to get ones with a soft waistband so it doesn't dig in. Your tummy/bikini will be very tender for a while afterwards.

I've actually never worn tight clothes again since my first section 5 years ago! They just feel 'wrong' now. Stretchy soft waistbands for the win Grin

Drives me mad that one half of the population gets all the pjs in black/navy/red and the other half of the population bleeds every month and gives birth Hmm

Remember your wound will be low down at your knicker line so as long as your pants and PJ trousers are high waisted, it shouldn't be too bad.

I never bothered with nursing PJs last time, just lifted my top and whipped out a boob. Buttons are a faff while you're learning to feed a new baby. I also always had my curtains round my bed in the hospital so had plenty privacy.

I had my catheter in over night (they're usually taken out on the first day though) so couldn't have worn pj bottoms. I hate nighties too!

You'll need a nighty for straight after the section because you'll have a catheter in and nurses will probably check your pad to see what's happening with the bleeding, after the first day/night though pjs should be fine (although I preferred nighties)

I wore pjs rather than a nightie with big massive granny pants underneath.

Your scar will be low down just above pubic line so just consider that when you try pjs on.

(And be prepared for the fact that you might never actually go back to small pants again, because honestly they're so comfy...!)

I use JoJo maternity pyjamas, they also have an access at the front for breastfeeding and the trousers are super high waisted and soft.

If you don't mind second hand I got some black maternity / nursing nighties from ebay, some with poppers and some with clips on the straps. Perfect for hospital but reverted to pjs when I was home.

I wore maternity pyjamas after mine. They came up really high and didn't irritate my wound.

I’ve just bought some pj’s in Asda that would be perfect post section, high waisted, loose and more than enough space for a maternity pad or two, size up.
After both my sections I wore a nightie and just hoiked it up to breastfeed but find something you feel comfy in, it’s important x

Yep maternity pjs. Mine were from next and I still wear them 18 months later!

I was only in hospital one night and wore a hospital gown whilst the catheter was still in and then maternity pjs after. A large nightshirt would also do - primark do them.

And yes to the c section pants! More supportive than normal pants but less than spanx. I wore them for a month after the birth and had no issues with my scar or healing. I was back on my feet v quickly

The first couple of nights after my sections I wore big button up night shirts from primark (with disposable pants). It was easier than pjs but good boob access. Doesn't need to be a proper nightie. But good for easy access etc. Then pjs were fine - but size up.

I didn't wear anything over that area for a good 4/5 days after my section. Primark do some loose night dresses that I bought a few sizes bigger.
