How much time passed between them telling you that you needed one, and actually getting into the operation room and starting the procedure?

Same as a few others have said. I had a category 1 c section and I would say less than 5 minutes? Once they realised my dds heart rate was so low they put me in a wheelchair and ran me down the corridors. Poor junior dr got shouted at as he was trying to push me the wrong way! 🙈 All good in the end though.

Ilovesausages · 29/09/2020 01:19

It’s making me feel teary reading these.

I’m honestly not sure- it was a total blur. Could have been 30 minutes or a couple of hours.

username1724 · 29/09/2020 01:49

I had a cat 1 section too. I'd had an induction and as I sat up for the epidural I had some really intense contractions that then rolled into 1 long one that didn't stop, babies heart rate then dropped dramatically and didn't come back up so the buzzer was pulled, I was checked and only 1cm and then theyre running down the corridor and into theatre. I was lucky that babys heartrate then recovered enough for them to give me a quick spinal and get him out.

An hour.

5cms dilated, then breech discovered.

'do you want to try a vaginal birth???'

Er, no?!

HarryHarry1 · 29/09/2020 02:01

15 minutes. My husband had gone home for a shower and a nap and had to rush back!

lakesidewinter · 29/09/2020 02:45

Buzzer, trolley, midwife actually had hand in my vagina trying to push everything back in.
Brief pause in corridor as they discussed which room to take me into.
DH made to strip in corridor into scrubs to come in to see me.
I think five minutes max.

NiceGerbil · 29/09/2020 02:46

not read thread.

10 mins maybe.

NiceGerbil · 29/09/2020 02:47

Fucking useless midwife.

Yeah not good.

DD was ok though.

Er, no?!

It’s fantastic that they gave you the option.
blueberrries · 29/09/2020 06:58

Was told I needed one had a bit of paper and pen thrown at me as was wheeled out the room it was v quick

ElizabethG81 · 29/09/2020 07:00

I had a category 1 but they couldn't do a GA because I'd just drank some water, so although the target is 30min I think they actually did it in about 45min from the point of the decision being made.

Livpool · 29/09/2020 07:03

About 20 minutes!

They said there was no time for an epidural so it was done under general anaesthetic

ElizabethG81 · 29/09/2020 07:06

I was signing the consent forms as they were putting a cannula in 😂

boomboom1234 · 29/09/2020 07:11

20 mins

boomboom1234 · 29/09/2020 07:11

Sorry the 20 minutes was them saying I need it and me holding my baby

Rumtopf · 29/09/2020 07:31

Minutes as it was a cat 1 emergency. Didn't even have time to sign the consent as they ran my bed from the room into surgery then gave me a GA. Dd was fine but it was quite traumatic.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 29/09/2020 07:39

From when I was told I needed one, to getting prepped, epidural done and baby out all took 18 mins.

Coldwinterahead1 · 29/09/2020 07:42

All happened within minutes, one of my twins was struggling massively and they needed to get him out.

catnoir1 · 29/09/2020 08:18

They told me I needed one as they were wheeling me out the room and down the corridor.

Blezz · 29/09/2020 08:26

The only time lost was persuading me to agree, that was maybe half an hour, but as soon as I said yes, it was almost immediate. No waiting, but I wasn't super alert by then.

bluebearss · 29/09/2020 08:30

About two minutes. I was delirious with no idea what was going on really. Cat 1, gas mask stuffed over my face and I was out. I had a massive haemorrhage, multiple blood transfusions and kidney failure and didn't meet my baby until the next day as I was kept sedated a long time. Really shit experience and had a huge impact on the early weeks of baby's life.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/09/2020 08:33

Under 20 mins and that included a trial of forceps first (they had a timescale of 30 mins apparently). Very hazy but I vaguely remember telling the anesthesist that telling me I'd be fine with "that" look on his face was counterproductive as he ran alongside the bed.

Clevs · 29/09/2020 08:35

About an hour.

Thegirlhasnoname · 29/09/2020 08:38

5 minutes between signing the consent form and DD being born. I had had an epidural put in about 15 minutes earlier to try lower my blood pressure when both our heartrates started getting erratic so didn’t need a GE

FreshfieldsGal · 29/09/2020 08:51

Within minutes due to a cord prolapse. The midwife was up on the bed holding the cord as I was rushed to theatre and knocked out. Had a major PPH and ended up having multiple transfusions.
Apparently for whatever reason my case was rare and the following day I had lots of visitors, my consultant with student doctors, the anaesthetist, etc. I was out of it for most of the time 😂
