How quickly did you heal after C Section

Hi ladies. I had a C Section on Tuesday night and obviously I'm still mega sore and cannot stand up straight or do anything major.
I just wanted to know when your own mobility kicked back in and when it became more comfortable to sleep?
Also your overall recovery time. Most sites say 6 weeks and I appreciate everyone is different but just curious really! I'm hoping to be back up to running on 70% at least within the next two weeks
TIA

I was up and about a couple of hours after the Cs both times and doing normal baby care. Discharged after 12hrs and 24hrs respectively. Didn't need pain relief. Back doing the school run on day 4.

I was VERY lucky.

About day 5 I was standing and walking but with painkillers whether I felt I needed them or not.
I was home within 24 hours after my section.
By day 10 I was walking my older child to school and back, pushing the pram through the snow.
Best fresh air EVER that little 20 minute walk to & from school.
Again took painkillers prior to setting off.
I didn’t have anyone to take older child to school so had no choice, had to be up & mobile.

You ladies are all AMAZING!!! day 3 for me now and I'm feeling a lot better today. Just making sure I keep on top of my paracetamol to take the edge off but managing to get up and down the stairs at a slighter faster pace (all be it still horrendously slow 🤪) than yesterday so I'm going to take that! 💪🏻
I managed to help DH in the night with DS too so a good sign also 👍🏻

After my first CS I was swimming lengths after 6 weeks, and running a couple of miles after 12.

After my second I could not stand up straight comfortably for 9 weeks, and did nit heal properly for a good 6-9 months.

WankPuffins · 25/09/2020 18:37

First two, I was mostly back to normal after 7 days.

This one, Christ it’s been tough. 5 weeks ago today and I only stopped taking painkillers around the clock a few days ago. First two weeks were hell on Earth, I couldn’t stand up without crying, couldn’t walk further than bedroom to bathroom. It’s been awful. And I don’t do too much - I didn’t lift a finger first three weeks so it’s not that.
Thank fully okay now though but it was so hard.

I’m old and fat this time though which hasn’t helped.

lockdownpregnancy · 26/09/2020 10:25

Oh bless you @WankPuffins that sounds awful! You poor thing! Sounds like you've been through the mill!!
I'm day 4 now and still feeling rough but every day is slightly better than the day before.
I hope you start to improve soon xx

I healed brilliantly I was out shopping in a shopping mall 7 days after my section and was given the ok to drive 11 days post section. It was a complete breeze from start to finish.

Psychoseverywhere · 26/09/2020 20:55

Its ten years since mine but I think a few days before I could sleep comfortably once home but definitely 2-3 weeks before I felt I could drive etc. its an awful thing to go through and not in the least natural. I wish you all the very best.

Suzi888 · 26/09/2020 21:02

Probably about 5 days, feeling better. Then just a bit ouchy, but I’m very squeamish. Found vacuuming the hardest, even after two weeks. Everyone is different and there are hundreds of stitches in many different layers. So take it very easy, do not push yourself. Take very good care of the cut, rest well when you can.

You are not meant to drive for at least 4 weeks, should you have an accident you could injure others or yourself.

lockdownpregnancy · 26/09/2020 21:16

Thank you @Suzi888
I'm seeing my MW tomorrow and she is taking my dressing off and cleaning everything for me. I'm hoping after that the improvements keep coming 🤞
I'm not pushing myself. I'm taking it super slow. I really don't want to set myself back. Especially once DH goes back to work I want to be mobile enough that I'm not a prisoner in my own home!

Good luck! Things must have changed since I had mine 4 years ago. No-one ever cleaned mine (just looked at it) I wish they had as I was so queasy! Almost fainted when I first ripped off the huge plaster thingy. Grin

Rebecca612 · 26/09/2020 21:41

Sorry not very helpful but I was mobile, up walking around and in very little pain as soon as the spinal wore off. I tried my best to be as mobile as possible and having my baby in lockdown meant I had to get up and pick my baby up myself with no help from DH.

Just keep focusing on your recovery and keep taking those pain meds - don’t be a hero like I planned to be, I took all the meds and made a pretty speedy recovery and then got mastitis twice - Sod’s law!

Try not to match yourself against other women’s recovery as well. Before I had my baby I searched MN and the internet for answers to al my weird and wonderful questions and then as soon as I went through it myself I realised that everyone’s bodies, temperaments and situations are so different. Trust in your instincts and be kind to yourself.

Also - congratulations!

treetopss · 26/09/2020 21:55

After about a week I was walking well and could do things like laundry. I did take more than paracetamol though. I was on a schedule of paracetamol, ibuprofen and oramorph (safe for breastfeeding). My top advice would be to continue pain relief for a few weeks otherwise as you start to do more you could end up in pain.

lockdownpregnancy · 27/09/2020 13:45

Thank you @Rebecca612 I'm just taking it each day as it comes tbf and hoping that I have a speedy recovery.
Been waking a lot easier today and my bandage is off which is a relief! Thankfully it didn't hurt coming off but I've got the knot of the stitch under my skin at the end of the scar and I've got to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't become inflamed or infected, but other than that it's all good! 👍🏻
@treetopss im not on pain meds except paracetamol and I am religiously taking them every 4 hours just to take the edge off! It's getting in and out of bed that's the worst! 😬😬
