I had my section 6 months ago,

Please don't be scared it's great, looking bad it honestly wasn't sore, I didn't feel a thing! But defo keep up with painkillers after it!!!! Drink peppermint tea also to prevent trapped wind!

Your gonna be a mum tomorrow!!!!!

Update when your able !

Just remember it's a happy day! Peppermint tea and painkillers xxx

I had my section 11 years ago. I remember the night before too, wondering what my baby would be like. My husband had shingles so couldn't come with me but everything went fine. One thing I would say is that having a spinal anesthetic can sometimes drop your blood pressure - they'll watch out for this but you can feel a little sick until they regulate the anesthesia - nothing to be scared of and I'm just giving you the heads up. You'll have new born cuddles in no time.

I’m nervous of needles and hate pain but my c section six months ago was a lovely experience. The op didn’t hurt at all. I had some favourite music playing and there is so much to be said for meeting your baby without being tired from hours of labour. I had so much energy to greet my baby and it helped with bonding. I would choose a c section again next time. Best of luck.

Pandapotato · 21/07/2020 23:29

I was shitting myself the night before! Hope you manage to get some rest.
Buy some wind-ease on your way in tomorrow. I never bothered and regretted it massively.
Tomorrow will be amazing. Get up and about as soon as you can. It helps. Also, if you are struggling to see when they take the catheter out, push down like you need a poo.
Is it your first? I’m so envious of the lovely newborn snuggles you will be having tomorrow.

Bsmirched · 21/07/2020 23:31

I've had 2 and both were very calm, lovely experiences. Enjoy meeting your new little one!

Quackersandcheese3 · 21/07/2020 23:35

Aww man , I remember what that feeling was like! I would advise next time , you have a scheduled freak out 2 nights before the c section , so the night before is a a lot more calming. 😂
Both my c section were amazing experiences.
Nice calm breathing , you’ve got this!
Wishing you all the best.

How exciting!!! You'll be fine! Mine was absolutely unproblematic, it did come after 19 hours of labour, 15 of which I had an epidural for. It feels so weird, like nothing you've ever felt, but in no way scary or uncomfortable, just weird!

Afterwards you really need to rest. It's important you heal well!

I'd go for an elective if I had another one.

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 00:53

Following as this will be me in just over 2 weeks!

Good luck

villainousbroodmare · 22/07/2020 01:04

Very exciting! It will be lovely I'm sure (I've had two). Second PPs suggestion of peppermint tea or capsules to resolve weird back or shoulder pain which is trapped gas post-op.

Pandapotato · 22/07/2020 07:18

Good luck today @Hollielouise! Walking to the theatre will be the most surreal and nerve wracking experience. I could feel baby wriggling and got so weirded out that they were going to take him out in a minute. I nearly turned on my heels and ran (waddled) home! But, a few deep breaths & I was fine. It was so calm & lovely & baby was super content when he came out.

Hollielouise · 22/07/2020 07:19

Thank you all - feeling slightly calmer to hear your experience. Sitting in the waiting room now with two other couples on the list so hopefully the wait isn't too long 🙏🏼

Best of lucky today!!! 💐💐 x

Lsquiggles · 22/07/2020 08:46

You won't feel a thing and your little one will be in your arms soon, enjoy every moment Smile

SuperStay7 · 22/07/2020 08:46

You’ll be grand!

I’ve had two sections. I remember absolutely shitting myself before the first, especially going in to the theatre. I was physically shaking as they did the spinal.

But it was all absolutely fine! Completely pain free, the theatre staff were lovely, and it was all over so quickly and my baby was in my arms.

So good, in fact, that I did it again 😊

Minesril · 22/07/2020 10:16

I had mine the day after lockdown. I spent the night reading the guardian's analysis of Johnson's speech! Section itself was great. Midwife said as we were walking to theatre 'you're about to meet your baby!' They had said before that it was like someone doing the washing up in your tummy which is actually quite accurate! And then they hold up a baby, very surreal! He weed on one of the surgeons Grin

catmum2019 · 25/07/2020 20:44

How did u get on op ? Xx

octobersky19 · 25/07/2020 20:45

I sat through a Star Wars live orchestra the night before because it was hubby's birthday present, it was a good distraction.. 10lb baby sat on my bladder throughout the whole thing was not fun haha

Hollielouise · 26/07/2020 19:05

Thank you all for your words of reassurance and experiences! Our baby was born at 13.52 on the 22nd July. We had quite a long wait for theatre as lots of emergencies beforehand but then they managed to squeeze us in in between and rushed us down (probably good as I didn't have time for full on nerves!)
It was all very calm and a great atmosphere and obviously an unforgettable moment as they drop the screen to show you baby's arrival.
Recovery has been great. I was standing within 4 hours, though couldn't get very far! The first 24 hours were extremely painful and I really wasn't able to do much so definitely stay on top of the drugs. Catheter was nothing to worry about and as others have said actually really useful not having to wee all night after 9 months of pregnancy!
Happy to answer any questions or offer any reassurance but we are now day 4 and I'm down to paracetamol only but resting a lot with lots of baby cuddles and feeding! 🥰 Good luck to those with upcoming sections!

Congratulations @Hollielouise and thank you for the update.
I've got a week and a half till my ELCS so appreciate it

Randomness12 · 26/07/2020 20:51

Huge congratulations OP

I’m debating TTC DC2 and have been told it would be a definite section after a difficult first time so doing some research into an elective rather than emergency and this has really made me smile.

Enjoy the cuddles Flowers

tobee · 26/07/2020 22:11

@Hollielouise

Congratulations! 🥳 👶

Any update on name/sex/weight? I suppose it's too cheeky to ask for a photo? Grin
