@Randomness12 I'm so glad it's reassured. I was told a section would be a much safer option as I've had a hip replacement (I'm only 30!) so also wanted to go into it with as much info as I could. There seems to be a huge difference between the experience of emergency and elective so hopefully you can be fully prepared and have a lovely calm birth.

@sel2223 Pack peppermint tea and drink it endlessly! The extra air/gas pain from the surgery was probably the worst part but over within 24 hours. I found going on all fours, slowly walking around and drinking endless peppermint tea to be the winning combo! Any other questions let me know. Good luck! Enjoy your last week with bump x

@Hollielouise I'm having my section tomorrow. Just wondered how long you stayed in hospital before being discharged?

I'm assuming you weren't allowed visitors on the ward due to covid, how was it looking after the baby on your own??

Also, congratulations Smile

@SwirlyCinnamonBun Good luck! He was born Wednesday at lunchtime and we were due home 24 hours later but they asked us to stay for a few observations overnight. If all is well they are trying to release everything after 24 hours once the baby check is complete.
Thankfully we were really lucky to be a private wing so my husband was able to stay with me in my room but I am sure the midwives will be on hand to support. I would say try and get moving - even sitting on the edge of the bed if you can. You'll be able to hold baby, just make sure you ask for help to lift/put them down as you need to avoid stomach crunch/sit up style moves and twisting. Can your partner be with you in recovery?

@Hollielouise thank you, that was helpful.
I found out today my husband can stay on the ward until 6pm which i'm over the moon about.

Amazing! @SwirlyCinnamonBun that will make all the difference! Get an extra long phone charger and water bottle with straw suction to make life easier with no movement/one hand free. Good luck and enjoy the moment you meet baby! Xx
