I had nasty afternoons with number 3 for 2-3weeks so I have lots of sympathy! I used a hot water bottle and braced myself when I was feeding with lots of cushions on my tummy!

SunbathingDragon · 13/06/2020 15:14

Bizarrely my worst after pains were from DC2 but I tried to quietly rest and took a lot of strong painkillers.

lucy2204 · 13/06/2020 16:05

@GentlyGentlyOhDear yeah mine are just so achy an I keep getting hip pain :( an back pain and then I constantly feel panicky about it -.- hoping mine won't last that long :(

I didn’t have any after DC3 or DC4 that I was aware of. DC2 was tiny as well!

My 3rd is now 14 weeks and ive been really anxious this time due to coronavirus. Have been quite on edge about it. DC3 is so easygoing and my easiest baby by far, its more the current situation probably ramped up by hormones that is worrying me!
How are you feeling @lucy2204?

lucy2204 · 15/06/2020 21:22

I'm better today had a long chat with my midwife she think it's hormones that's causing my anxiety as had it throughout pregnancy doesn't help that I clotted an lost a lot of blood after so she thinks that has something to do with it she's just said to take every day as it comes an if I still feel like it when babies 6 weeks old to speak to gp at the appointment🙋‍♀️since speaking to her it's actually made Me feel a little better hoping it stays that way, my baby is also the easiest out of my 3! He sleeps so much 🤗hope your okay xx

Try and be glad the after pains are pulling everything back together. You will be right as rain shortly.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 15/06/2020 21:30

Ah thats good news! Are you taking iron tablets or spatone to boost your iron levels? I had low ferritin in pregnancy and it made me feel very uneasy as well as physically shattered.
How old is your baby now? Have the afterpains eased at all?

lucy2204 · 15/06/2020 21:32

@Ukholidaysaregreat hopefully was a bit of a shock how much they hurt this time around😂

lucy2204 · 15/06/2020 21:35

@GentlyGentlyOhDear no I haven't been told to take anything I do have blood thinning injection tho but I'm done with them on Wednesday and baby is only 8 days old 🙈I think just because I was fine with the other 2 I expected to be this time around to but I'm getting there slowly can't wait to get past the whole up and down stage that's what's really kicking my ass 🤣xx

@lucy2204 I feel your pain!! My DD3 is 10 days old today. The afterpains... OMG shocking!! I wasn’t prepared for it. They started after I had my stitches done, almost as bad as the early labour contractions! They lasted about 6/7 days for me. I focused on the fact they were doing a job and uterus was returning to pre baby size. When I got home I used my tens machine whenever I fed the baby as I felt the pains in my back and stomach. Luckily they have completely gone now. Phew

Angelonia · 16/06/2020 17:25

Oh god I remember the horrendous after pains after DC3 - far worse than DC1 or DC2. They only lasted for a few days.

Shinygreenelephant · 16/06/2020 17:26

After pains are awful I’m so sorry you’re having a hard time. I didn’t get them with my first but with my second they were dreadful, worse than most of my labour, especially when breastfeeding. My stomach was completely flat after about 3 weeks though because the after pains contract everything back into place, so as horrible as they feel they are helping you. Hope you feel better soon xxx

Keyperfect · 16/06/2020 17:29

I can sympathise! I had agonising afterpains after DC4. Worse than labour. I'd had afterpains with previous DC but nowhere near as bad. I felt like nobody believed me. Asked for something stronger than paracetamol and they couldn't/ wouldn't give me anything.

Strangely after DC5, I didn't have any afterpains at all!

lucy2204 · 16/06/2020 20:20

@flissity mine are slowly very slowly starting to go! 😂My labour wasn't that painful tbh it was the blood loss and the drips that killed!! It's like doing labour twice 😏glad your feeling better now! Xx@Angelonia mine have been for 4 days so far! I had none at all till I hit day 5 and then they kicked in (day 9 now) xx@Shinygreenelephant yeah I'm belly is slowly going down 🙄I didn't have any with my 1st or 2nd so this was like a kick to the gut -.-xx
@Keyperfect they didn't believe me either!!! It wasn't till they generally saw blood clots and decided to help me I gave birth at 11 didn't get decent pain killers till 4 am 😑I don't plan to have any more children now this one was painful/scary enough I would love a big family tho 😍xx

Pains are back again today in the form of dull and achy -.- just so much discomfort I don't remember them like this tbh 😂been having anxiety and panic attacks (2) the past 2 days midwife said that she thinks its all Hormoan related anyone ever heard of that? :/ or had it?

OP posts:
RandomMess · 19/06/2020 15:10

After my 2nd baby I refused to leave hospital without voltarol for 3 & 4 😂

2nd was by far the worst tbh, but that could have been because they wouldn't let me pee until 4 hours post birth and she was 10Ib 6oz

lucy2204 · 19/06/2020 15:20

Yeah I had to wait a while (drips etc) my 3rd was the smallest and seems to have caused the most pain 😂😂

OP posts:
RandomMess · 19/06/2020 15:48

The incompetent midwife kept telling me I didn't need a wee when I was desperate to go, it's likely that she wrongly assumed I had a catheter in 🙄by the time I had my next baby the policy had changed to if you had an epidural you had to have a catheter. I was in agony For 2 hours waiting to go. You are supposed to go within an hour 🤬

RandomMess · 19/06/2020 15:49

They say they get worse with each birth because your womb has to work harder each time to contract back to its correct size.
