Morning all,

As the title says, I am having my C-Section today. I have been an inpatient since Thursday having steroids etc (I am 37+5), and finally the day has come....

I don't actually know how I feel about it all though! I am obviously excited to meet him, but equally thought I would be a lot more nervous/scared than I am.... I almost feel numb? Has anyone ever had this? Is my brain maybe sub consciously blocking out my feelings?!

Anyway, any positive stories please? Thanks all! Grin

Exciting! It will all be over so quickly and you'll be having cuddles before you know it. I'm 4 months post section and I had a great recovery. Just take it easy and don't push yourself too quickly. I didn't get nervous until it was my turn and we were walking in. Put my own music on and that relaxed me straight away. Take pictures if you're allowed to, we completely forgot until we were back on the ward and I'd have liked to have had one from the theatre but she's healthy and that's the most important thing. Good luck!

Wonkydonkey44 · 03/11/2019 09:41

Good luck you will be totally fine ❤️

kiki22 · 03/11/2019 09:43

You will be fine it's weird to think about but the staff do it so often and are so unphased by it they put you at ease.

My c section was my best birth by miles

2018isanewyear · 03/11/2019 09:46

It will all be fine, I was the same admitted and then on steroids kept being pushed back due to actual emergencies when it finally happened it was calm and actually quite a nice experience.

6 weeks post surgery and I'm feeling great 👍🏼 just don't rush back to normal

littlemissminor · 03/11/2019 10:12

Ahhh thank you all, just burst into tears reading all your replies! Thanks

Feeling very overwhelmed but getting there I think!

@littlemissminor I am due a planned section in 4 weeks and feel the same! Please fill us in when you feel able to on how you have gone on and how baby etc is doing cx
Also can I ask why early section? Just ask as I also have complications too

Fightthebear · 03/11/2019 11:19

Mine was a good birth, much much better than previous vaginal delivery.

I didn’t like the rummaging around in your abdomen bit (but then I’m squeamish) but apart from that it was positive.

Very best of luck today op!

theoriginaltms · 03/11/2019 11:19

Good luck! You will be fine x

jent85 · 03/11/2019 11:41

Good luck! Hopefully you're holding your gorgeous little bundle by now Thanks
I had an emergency c-section and I remember lying in surgery whispering to my husband "let's leg it" despite having had the epidural and being unable to move my legs Grin 10 minutes later, she was here and I couldn't think of anything else. You'll be absolutely fine and as a PP said, the staff are AMAZING and do this all the time, you're in good hands xxxx

bonzo77 · 03/11/2019 11:52

Good luck! I had my 3rd at 37+5 after being in for steroids. He was a lovely perky happy strong baby. Even at less than 6lb. No issues at all.

firsttimemummatobella · 03/11/2019 11:58

I had an emergency c-section 2 weeks ago when I was 36 +2 with my first baby.
I felt totally out of it when I first got into theatre and while they were doing the spinal block etc but as soon as my DP came in and they started I felt much more ‘with it’ and the excitement of meeting my little girl kicked it!

Recovery was tough for the first 10 days - don’t try to do too much too fast and keep topped up with pain killers! Two weeks down the line I have no pain really and am ready to get out and about!
Good luck OP and congratulations!!

littlemissminor · 03/11/2019 12:02

Thanks all - been told it will be after 1.30, but no exact time... I will of course update you all!! Grin

I have Gestational Diabetes, the baby is a predicted weight of 9lb, his movements and heart rate keep dropping so they just want him out!!

I had an awful first delivery so very glad for a C-Section!

Sending all the good vibes you way 💕 how exciting you get to meet your little one today!! X

NotSoThinLizzy · 03/11/2019 12:19

Not long left to wait now. How exciting. Hope everything goes well and speedy recovery.

JenniferM1989 · 03/11/2019 12:28

You will be fine 🙂. Best of luck and please take it easy afterwards! I know it's silly to say but don't go pushing yourself and hoovering the stairs for at least 2 weeks. Just enjoy your baby boy and tend to his needs and yours and do the minimum ♥️

shivbo2014 · 03/11/2019 12:35

Ah good luck! Im feeling all nostalgic and a bit jealous I had my section 4 months ago. I was nervous going into theatre but the staff are usually fab at keeping you relaxed! Its such a fantastic experience... Make sure you take it easy afterwards even if you feel OK just relax as much as possible!

piercedmyfootonaspike · 03/11/2019 13:22

I had GD with mine too so you'll probably need baby to pass three blood sugars in a row before you can get home. A wee trick a nurse showed me to help before each test was make sure their heels are warm so give them a rub and hold them in your hands before they test. Dunno if it's a load of rubbish but after a few failed tests it seemed to work! Enjoy the tea and toast Smile After eating low carb it was a real treat!

Haggisfish · 03/11/2019 13:23

Oh good luck-I’ve had two sections and both were absolutely fine.

Wonderland18 · 03/11/2019 13:27

Good luck! I had my section at 39 weeks because of gestational diabetes and the little one ended up only a 6lbs 4!

Its a strange but lovely experience and they will take good care of you! Enjoy and deffs go for the skin to skin while they stitch if you can, it’s lovely!

Wale90 · 03/11/2019 13:31

Good luck! Hopefully you have your baby and will not be checking back for many hours whilst you get cuddles.

I had a planned section 9 months ago, it was great. Everything went smoothly and whilst I was very sore for a few days I was pushing our baby around the village by day three, driving by 2 weeks and thankfully avoided any infections etc.

Use the excuse of major surgery to let everyone do the bulk of the work and relax and recover.

littlemissminor · 03/11/2019 15:50

Thank you everyone! Still no baby Sad

They are saying an hour, but we all know what that could mean!!!

Ketomeato · 03/11/2019 15:52

I’ve had two sections and they are both where I go to in my head if I want to feel happy.

They were lovely, pain-free and very exciting! Good luck, best wishes x

GruffalOH · 03/11/2019 16:00

I think the waiting to be taken in was the worst part of my section. The rest is lovely! So you've almost made it through the worst bit!

Be kind to yourself afterwards, don't rush to be up and functioning normally, and hopefully you'll recover very well :) enjoy the chance to sit and cuddle on the sofa for hours..!

Lsquiggles · 03/11/2019 16:00

I had an unplanned c section in June and the thought terrified me but obviously you don't feel a thing and my daughter was here before I knew it. Try not to worry and we're all thinking of you, enjoy your bundle of joy! Grin

stayfit · 03/11/2019 17:59

Good luck hope your are enjoying the cuddles, reminds me of my c-section. Waited the whole day (it was a Sunday) and was called in at 5 and baby born 17.53.
