When were you induced!

Am 40 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Having spent 37 weeks waiting for this date I now have no idea how long it will be before I have my baby.

Feeling no signs at all of labour.(BH but nothing else)

Am beginning to think that I'll end up being induced. I know different hospitals have differing policies on when to be induced. How far over your dates were you when you were induced? Just to give me an idea of how much longer I will be uncomfortable for!

You can hold out as long as you like. After 41 weeks you can insist on twice weekly monitoring. But it sounds like you might want to ask for a stretch and sweep if you are getting fed up.

you don;t have to be induced until 42 weeks....or longer..you can have expectant management.....term plus 10 is 'usual'... was your first early/ late?

I was 10 days over both times. I didn't WANT to hold out, was h appy to be induced

if you are going to be induced, make sure your bishops score is explained to you fully before you make a decision

a score of 6 + is to be aimed for....or higher

I had a sweep at 41+2 and was induced at 42 weeks with DD1, with DD2 I asked for a sweep at 40+3 but I went into labour a few hours before the mw arrived. I think you can ask for a sweep as soon as you go past your EDD but they may not comply for a few days.

DD was due on 11 Dec. 42 weeks would have took me to Christmas Day so I pleaded not to wait till then. Induction was booked for 41+3 but I went naturally at 41+2.

Not sure whether they'll do it b4 42 weeks without a valid reason. I don't want to wait it out. I understand induction can be more painful than normal but at least I'd know there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

Have a MW appointmenton Tues. Will be 40+2. Want a sweep then but just want to be prepared for her to say no without have a hormonal pregnancy moment in the office!

if you went 9 days over, it might indicate you need to be pregnant for longer than 40 weeks

only around 5 % of babies arrive on their due date

41 weeks is probably around the time a sweep could be offered, it only works if you were going to go into labour anyway within 24 -48 hours

I was induced 11 days over after a 'your baby is in danger if you go anymore days over' speech from the consultant which scared the bejeesus out of me.

lol at hormonal pg moment! I had one of those when hospital couldn't fit me in for an induction. I phoned my MW and shrieked at her that if I didn't get this baby out TODAY then it would be too big and I couldn't possibly deliver him (with mucho sobbing)

I know 41 weeks is only another week off but it seems like years. I feel I've had the pregnancy of an overdue elephant.

oh, had sweep at 41 +2 days and ds was born on 41 + 6 after a long labour -he really did not want to come out!

Am prgt again and have been told might be induced on my due date as baby is too big for dates. Am happy with that as long as epidural is put in the same time as the induction drugs!

a low bishops score can mean a failed induction or a lenghty one ! best to wait as long as you can as spontanoues labour tends to be when the baby is ready !

was induced with ds1, was a nightmare as it turned out i am allergic to the prostin gel they use, ended up with syntocin drip etc.

if you can hold on i would, with the second two i refused to be induced and they arived at 15days late, ds2 and 17 days late ds3. i had a sweep with both of them which i think helped

Typhoonsmum, what happened, did you have your induction/sweep? Are you still pregnant or off cuddling your lo somewhere?

Nope still pregnant. They will do the sweep tomorrow but won't book an induction till a week today. I'll be 40+15 at the time! I'm not impressed. I know inductions are more painful and take longer but i'd prefer that than go later and risk placental detriation.

I was induced at 40 + 11. I was offered a sweep at 40 + 5 but it wasn't possible as cervix was closed posterior.

I was induced at 39+3 due to 24 hours since waters broke and no contractions starting. The hospital have since changed that rule though.

I was induced at 41+5 with DS1. Having already had my dates put back 2 weeks, it felt like I was a month overdue!
