need to write my birth plan.

with dd i ws induced and flat on my back for 4 hours, i couldn't move (think i'd gone into shock a bit) and kept my eyes shut all the way through. this time, i want it to be different, was thinking of giving birth on all fours if possible, what do people think?

sorry, gonna crash this thread, lulumama, i wasnt allowed to geto ff thebed, my midwife said she had a bad back, and couldnt help me? But my x dh was there. I had spd so couldnt squat, but i wanted to stand,or lean over thebed whilst laboring.

i'll never get over that silly cow. grrrrr.

With DS1 it was on my back at the foot of the bed, wimpering With DS2 I managed on my side and with DD I finally managed the "recommended" on-all-fours because I was in a pool and the water supported me. With DSs I found that my legs gave way with each contraction so I couldn't do it.

My birth plan each time simply stated I wanted to choose my own positions. There's no need to be specific in the birthplan, as others have said just go with the flow.

that is bad, pirategirl....surely if her back was that bad, she should have been off work? a labouring woman needs birth attendants who are pyhsically able to support her and help her...

did you make a complaint?

pirategirl · 26/07/2007 11:11

yes i did, at the time, but tbh, they just banged on about how well I had done despite the spd , etc...

Its the psychological probs it gaev me that r the worst. The midwife just said, 'I've intend to have the rest of my career, so cannot do my back in trying to help you'--nice!!!

iwas badly affected, by her lack of support. I found out some time after that she her self was seeing a psychologist for the affect my complaint had had on her.

selfish woman, she shouldn't have been working if she couldn't physically support you!

thanks for all the replies
