Currently experiencing pain on the left side of my stomach that feels very intense when I move or walk.

It feels like a hot burning pain! I'm over 3 weeks PP.

What is happening? I'm scared to move

Is it very painful? I didn't experience this and really can't say if its normal or not, can you call the hospital and tell them whats happening just incase you need to go get checked out?

Pommes · 21/05/2019 23:41

I've had three c-sections OP. Never have I experienced this. Please call NHS 111.

incogneto · 21/05/2019 23:43

I coughed earlier and think I've strained something Confused only hurts when I move and it feels more like the skin that's hurting rather than something internal. It's very weird.

I'm planning on ringing my GP tomorrow for an appointment

I experienced this second time round. Scar had split ever so slightly and all in all healing was just crappy second time round, took months really. Try not to worry it could be normal but do seek help

debbiewest0 · 21/05/2019 23:49

I had this. It was an infection. Just on the one side. Red and felt hot. Couldn’t feel it inside but that’s where it had come up from and then I was feeling it on the outside.
so Best to head for a check up and a swab if possible to see if it’s infected so you can get antibiotics.
All treatable though so don’t worry

NewSchoolNewName · 21/05/2019 23:50

This doesn’t sound normal OP, I’d get medical advice tonight, call NHS 111.

Polestar50 · 21/05/2019 23:57

I had this after my c section. Sharp, hot, burning, debilitating pain. Got it checked out and it was just the scar tissue settling and nothing to worry about. It started the same as you, maybe 2-3 weeks pp then stopped quite quickly, around 1 month pp.

I feel for you though. It hurts like fuck and is a bit frightening.

Mine hurt worst when changing position (eg sitting to standing). My top tip is to put pressure on the area that's hurting (eg hold a small cushion or folded towel very firmly against your tummy before moving).

The pain makes you not want to move but, if it is just scar tissue forming, then gentle movement is the best thing for it to keep everything as supple as possible. I'd say definitely get it checked out but don't overly worry as it is pretty common and almost certainly nothing to worry about. L

Polestar50 · 22/05/2019 00:01

If there is any redness, heat or itchiness etc then definitely don't push it. I'm surprised by others here saying it's not normal as quite a few other c section Mums I know said they had the same thing as it was fine.

Congratulations on your new baby OP! Hope all else is going well and you get this sorted ASAP

Polestar50 · 22/05/2019 00:02

'And it was fine' not 'as if was fine'

Polestar50 · 22/05/2019 00:03

Oh I give up!

Paradyning · 22/05/2019 00:07

How high up is it OP? I'm 2 weeks pp and have a similar pain adjacent to my belly button. I just keep thinking it a pulled muscle at present ...

incogneto · 22/05/2019 00:13

The thing is, it's nowhere near the Incision site and I have been told by my midwife that it healed perfectly. So much so that it's barely noticeable unless you look up close.

This pain is to the left of my belly button. Somewhere at the midpoint between there and my hip (sorry I can't really explain any better)

The skin hurts to touch

incogneto · 22/05/2019 00:14

@Paradyning my pain sounds like where your pain is also. Agree it feels like a pulled muscle!

Paradyning · 22/05/2019 09:50

How are you @incogneto
Did you get a GP appt? I'm seeing my HV at noon

ButterflyWitch · 22/05/2019 09:52

Sounds like an infection. Best to get it checked out today if you can

icecreamsundae32 · 22/05/2019 10:25

I had similar pain about 3 weeks after to the right of my scar, which I'd been told had healed well, it was indeed an infection. I knew it wasn't right as it was my third section and I'd never had the pain before. I was also worried incase it was scar tissue attaching itself to my bladder or something but was an infection!

DearTeddyRobinson · 22/05/2019 10:31

I've had 2 sections, this doesn't sound normal. Better get it checked out OP

dummarodum · 22/05/2019 10:34

They cut through 7 layers of skin so there's no knowing what could've happened. Please get yourself checked out ASAP- you've had major surgery and do not want to risk an infection of any sort.

Badwifey · 22/05/2019 10:53

Could be a hernia. Your stomach muscles weaken a lot after a section due to recovery. I'd say get an appointment to see your go as soon as you can.

incogneto · 22/05/2019 12:40

The pain has now completely gone Confused strange!

After I started this thread it disappeared

OP posts:
Paradyning · 22/05/2019 15:42

That's good! Mine's still here. HV said speak to GP as suspected.

incogneto · 22/05/2019 20:37

@Paradyning pains back again! Considering ringing the postnatal ward as it's so painful

OP posts:
Paradyning · 23/05/2019 16:24

My GP just said muscular. Not sure I agree but will see!

MRex · 23/05/2019 16:34

I have had ongoing pains that the GP has said are nerve endings reconnecting, things settling back into place and possibly gas. It takes a whole lot of healing; I'd say if in doubt get it checked out.

Are you over your suspected flu / mastitis? Make sure you mention that as it could be linked as symptoms of an infection.

incogneto · 23/05/2019 19:38

GP appointment tomorrow. Have no idea what this pain could be but it honestly feels like somebody is sticking hot rod into my stomafh

@MRex I am feeling much better now yes
