Childbirth

OK just for a laugh ... place your bets on how long Miaou will be in labour this time [grin]

Not that I'm in labour yet but due a week on Saturday so not very long to go ...

A little background info to help you decide:

dd1 - 16 hours from start to finish - had an epidural which they reckon slowed it down.

dd2 - 8 hours and ditto the epidural

ds - 4 hours (waterbirth, no intervention)

Soooo ... m/wives seem sure it could all be over in 2 hours, I'm not so convinced myself!

Do you still have to go on that ferry to get to the hospital?

Miaou · 13/07/2007 22:58

VVVQV - 12 hours
Magnolia1 -3 hrs 40 mins
Nutcracker - 3 hours 23 mins
BreeVanDerCampLGJ - 2 hours 37 mins
DumbledoresGirl - 2 hours
ApuNahasapeemapetilon - 1 hour 49 mins

Nope Mercy - am straight up a proper road - not even single track with grass down the middle, a proper A Road - reckon it's doable in about 40 mins!!

Right

I am powering down.

Much love to you all.

Report
Mercy · 13/07/2007 23:11

Good news about the road!

I reckon, god I don't know tbh! I think your mw is right and would say 2 hours but I actually think it going to be about an hour possibly less.

OK - I'll say one hour!

(can we guess the date and girl/boy too?)

Report
mears · 13/07/2007 23:11

Beware that because last baby was 4 hours you may expect faster progress when labour starts and end up in hospital too soon (unless homebirth?)

I have often seen women coming in too soon which makes labour seem as though it is much longer IYSWIM?

I'll go for 3 hours having said that

I take it they were just Braxton Hicks then?

I'm going for...22 minutes Just to freak you out a bit.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 14/07/2007 01:29

The question is not how long your labor is going to be, but how many times you have to go to the hospital before actually coming home with a baby.

Report
sparklygothkat · 14/07/2007 01:32

1 hour 24 minutes

Going by DS4s birth I'd say slighty longer that the MW and you expect.

5hr 36mins

( I was convinced/hoping/dreaming/fanatising/ ds4 would be faster but infact Ds2+3 were faster)

DelGirl - 3 hours 7 mins
BreeVanDerCampLGJ - 2 hours 37 mins

Marslady - 1 hour 37 mins
SparklyGothKat - 1 hour 24 mins
Mercy - 1 hour
Marthamoo - 22 minutes (blimey, hope not!!)

Mercy - ooh yes, you can guess on the weight/sex if you like! Just for comparison sake - dd1 was 6lb13oz, dd2 was 8lb, and ds was 8lb. My bump is smaller this time than with ds but that of course could be a smokescreen ...

PSML colinandcaitlinsmommy - I hope it's just the one trip this time

DG - ds is 2 on 1st August! How time flies, eh? I can't get over how old your dd is - doesn't seem 5 mins since I was looking at her newborn pics ... ahhh ...

Mears - once I am sure I am really in labour (hopefully we will not have a repeat of last time ) I will be going straight to the hospital, don't care how long I'm there! It's lovely and quiet and there are lots of comfy places to go if I'm on the slow side - I'd rather that than either have a mad dash at the last minute or have a homebirth (rented house + beige carpets = bad idea IMO - plus community midwives are seriously short staffed atm so I am not planning on being at home).
