ok, moving on

SPR now present

(can't see this bit well as diff handwriting...) "episiotomy repaired with (micryl?) in 3 layers" - what does this 3 layers mean?

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:19

(yikes, it appears suturing lasted 20 mins - was she recreating the bayeux tapestry?)

OP posts:
canmummy · 27/06/2007 12:19

vicryl - stuff the stitches are made of and the 3 layers refers to the layers of tissue they sew back together. Going back to the little circle thingy before SROM it stands for "diagnosis"

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:24

ah, thanks

"SPR"?

OP posts:
SlightlyMadShorthair · 27/06/2007 12:26

Where in teh order of proceedings does SPR come? before or after birth of baby/placenta?

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 12:26

Still Producing from Rectum

lulumama · 27/06/2007 12:26

SPR..don;t know

is it just on its own or part of a sentence? at which point is it? after birth ?

SlightlyMadShorthair · 27/06/2007 12:27

Oh and tutter I was stitched for nearly an hour....lidnocaine starts to wear off after about 30-45mins

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:28

pmsl foxy

(just for a moment you got me)

context was "SPR now present"

oh hang on, could be specialist/senior registrar?

(btw, yes am still pregnant - elephant-like aren't i?)

OP posts:
3xamum · 27/06/2007 12:29

SPR - spontaneous potential responses.
I think I obviously know jack about what I'm typing at work

SlightlyMadShorthair · 27/06/2007 12:29

Could be a person....

lulumama · 27/06/2007 12:30

where;s Mears when you need her??

yoooooo hoooooooooo !!!!

hoxtonchick · 27/06/2007 12:30

yes, spr=specialist registrar i should think.

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 12:30

is it your party this Saturday?

what does the forecast say?

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:31

it was from 20 mins prior to birth

and 5 mins prior to being put into stirrups to prep for ventouse

OP posts:
lulumama · 27/06/2007 12:32

then what hoxtonchick said is most probably correct then as doc would do ventouse

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:32

think you're right hoxtonchick - that would have coincided with the doc arriving and things getting serious

(foxy - forecast shite - now have marquee booked)

OP posts:
canmummy · 27/06/2007 12:32

Definitely specialist registrar

3xamum · 27/06/2007 12:32

not responses then but the registrar.

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:33

thanks everyone

we all win - i now understand my notes

and you all get to know the details of how much i pooed at ds1's birth

OP posts:
pobletsmum · 27/06/2007 12:33

spec paediatric registrar? just a wild guess...

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:40

final question...

"LOA"?

(this is going right back to initial examination)

OP posts:
lulumama · 27/06/2007 12:42

left occiput anterior

ie the position baby is in, back left of the baby's head at the front

optimum position for birth

DarrellRivers · 27/06/2007 12:44

Left occipital anterior (presentation)
spr-specialist reg
bo -bowels opened
3 layer repair -ie did the repair in the 3 layers starting intermuscular/the sub cut then closing skin

Tutter · 27/06/2007 12:45

thanks again

is the '3 layers' bit fairly standard? i mean, are 3 layers normally cut in an episiotomy?
