Hi just wondering when your babies poo on their clothes do you put it in the wash straight away I basically wanted to know what you can use to soak them in?

I didn’t. Disinfectant brought my ds out on a rash no matter how much I rinsed things.

A hot wash above 55 degrees will kill most bacteria. Then line dry.

Bananalanacake · 02/10/2018 20:06

The most useful tip I've learnt on mn is that sunlight bleaches out poo stains. Just wash clothes at 40 and hang out.

Tryingtogetitright · 02/10/2018 20:06

I use Napisan.

It does seem to strip colour out a bit but it's never given my little ones a rash

Vintagegoth · 02/10/2018 20:06

I used to soak them in napisan in a plastic bucket with a lid. Seemed to be the only thing that would get the luminous yellow poo stains out.

Strawberrybelly · 02/10/2018 20:06

Just chuck them in the wash on a 60 wash and they will be fine.

MiniMaxi · 02/10/2018 20:06

Dettol sensitive skin laundry cleanser

Pissedoffdotcom · 02/10/2018 20:06

Cold rinse without powder to avoid staining then 60 wash with normal powder. This is how i do my cloth nappies too & never an issue 🙂

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 02/10/2018 20:07

Only happened to my baby the once (thank goodness) and I confess that I chucked the offending clothes straight in the bin.

Marmite27 · 02/10/2018 20:07

We’ve been to Center Parcs recently and found that the little bar of soap you get left in your accommodation was like magic for getting baby poo out.

Citron very I think it was.

Marmite27 · 02/10/2018 20:08

Citron vert Hmm

mummytooneprincess · 02/10/2018 20:09

Fairy liquid or any washing up liquid followed by normal 30 degree wash

sandyposy · 02/10/2018 20:09

Any white soap does the job: rub right on it and hand wash the area, rinse, then bung in machine.

bellinisurge · 02/10/2018 20:12

Napisan.

Rogue1234 · 02/10/2018 20:12

Definitely sunlight! We use reusable nappies that get washed at 40 degrees with normal detergent and hung outside. There are no stains on them at all.

MirandaWest · 02/10/2018 20:14

I just washed and line dried where possible

happymummy12345 · 02/10/2018 20:14

Shout stain remover is the best,
I used to spray them and put them straight in the machine. If I could wash them straight away then I did, but I couldn't always.

StarfishSandwich · 02/10/2018 20:14

Breast milk poo is water soluble, I just bung them in a normal wash. Usually I use baby clothes to bulk out the nappy wash which is done at 60 and gets an extra rinse anyway.

INeedNewShoes · 02/10/2018 20:15

Miofresh worked really well here for poo stains and is an eco friendly antibacterial soak. Not quite so good on food stains though when you get to that point!

gothefcktosleep · 02/10/2018 20:18

I handwash cold then chuck it in the washing machine normal cycle... found hot washes don’t get the stain out.

A580Hojas · 02/10/2018 20:21

Soak first in napisan. Don't put shitty clothes in with your normal wash and wash at 40 degrees ffs! That's like deliberately washing your clothes in lukewarm sewage.

randomsabreuse · 02/10/2018 20:23

Cold rinse pokey stuff separately then miofresh in normal wash load at 40.

Poo barely stains compared with food!

Maryann1975 · 02/10/2018 20:24

Another vote for using your normal detergent in a normal wash (maybe with an extra rinse if you feel the need) then hang out in the sunshine to sun bleach the stains out. My white nappies were all still pretty white and definitely not stained when I had finished using them (3dc later).

Maryann1975 · 02/10/2018 20:26

And also, it doesn’t need to be hot sun, it seems to work in winter sun too and if you can’t be bothered to hang on the line (or indeed don’t have a garden) leave them on the window sill in the sun or get one of those underwear peg dryers (the oval shaped things) and hang up on the curtain pole in the sun.

hiddeneverything · 02/10/2018 20:27

Fairy liquid. Can't believe how amazing it is!

Figmentofimagination · 02/10/2018 20:29

I rinse with cold water and rub washing up liquid into the stain. This breaks down the enzymes in the poo. Then spray with a vanish spray, wash with all other clothes on a normal wash with vanish powder in the drawer. Then line dry in the sun.
