TMI, Coming up.........

Those of you that have had a show before and you don't mind disclosing it's looks would be good.
I had a little bit of what I thought was a show last week, like a bit of pinky stained slimey snot but I have just been to the toilet, and it was gross, this was like a lump of jelly. It was quite big and thick, creamy in colour and reminded me of that stuff kids get to throw at walls that stick on them. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, what do you reckon, just a weird show or was it some kind of alien product up there?

FWIW, I'm 38+4 today and MW did a sweep yesterday.

My 'showing' went on for a week, from all i'd read I thought it was just one bit but not at all!! So may not give you all that much indication of when labour about to begin. Good luck.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 12:48

You are so right, I'm not under any ilusions just hopeful thinking.

ooooh......lets have lots of positive ,birth , contracting vibes !!

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 13:53

Klaw, please refrain from discussing any emptying of bowels during labour. Now you'd think that at 39 weeks pregnant I would be more worried about dilating, crowning and tearing. Oh dearie me no. I am terrified of what my bowels will be doing and I spend an inordinate amount of time glaring at the sieve we have sitting on top of the birth pool box.

Sorry to pollute your thread with such chatter MrsJB. How can I let DH see me in that state?

Is there such thing as a dignified birth?

lulumama · 09/05/2007 14:37

not everyone poos! honestly..and if you do,it will be whipped out of the pool very quickly !

in the throes of labour, you won;t care!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 15:17

I didn't with H or M, well at least if I did I didn't know about it.

MKG · 09/05/2007 16:09

I will honestly say that I pooed and I had no idea I did it. The nurse was ready and took care of it.

Well after my mammoth sneeze (yes I sneezed out my show) I've been losing it a little at a time, but nothing pink, so I'm not to excited and will probably still be pregnant in June.

Klaw · 09/05/2007 20:12

Oh I went for a poo on the toilet! I have no idea if there was poo later but I'm talking about the pooing you may do in the earlier stages so that bowels are already empty. Not a conscious effort, I hasten to say, but I do think my body was very kind to me in trying to spare my blushes later on, iyswim?

sorry to have worried anyone needlesly!

lulumama · 09/05/2007 23:22

i did not poo ! DH swears i didn't, and he would have so loved to have told me i did!!

Nikki76 · 09/05/2007 23:25

That was one positive thing about having a c section....no pooing in front of DH...he was there when my show came out - was helping me off the loo and into the bath to help with contractions and although he was soooo good at the time, when it was all over, he confessed that he was freaked out by it!

Interesting though, how they aren't freaked after sex when all gunk comes out then??!! Hypocrites...!!

Klaw · 10/05/2007 22:01

Nikki, that's because they're asleep when that happens!!!

Nikki76 · 10/05/2007 22:35

Klaw - excellent point and they never seem to lie in the wet patch either! But I digress.....

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/05/2007 09:50

Morning, any of you lovely ladies around this morning.

I think something may be starting Why is it that I'm not sure though, probably because this will turn into a week of this.

Anyway I might feel better if I write it down. Well, It started yesterday with some stronger contractions during the afternoon but no pattern and not very regular they have continued like that all night, they are far apart but each one enough to wake me up. It's right in the bottom of my bump at the moment and feels like a heavy period ache, in between the tightenings I have a heavy dragging feeling down low and lots of pressure. Added to this each time I go to the loo this morning my discharge is pink. Very watery, not jelly like,
could this mean my cervix is starting to dilate?

I know I could probably go another week like this but what do you think, does it sound like things might be starting?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/05/2007 16:08

bumping,

still going mainly about every 10 minutes but seem to have some little ones all over the place too. It's very weird! With each contacion I think oh ee yes, I remember this this is it! but then in between I think oh no, don't be silly, my body doesn't know how to do this naturally and certainly not 2 days before edd.

Hello sounds like things are starting - yes your body does know how to do this all by itself, it is very clever! No conscious effort required by you, remember to breathe slowly, relax, and drop your shoulders...keep well hydrated, rest as much as you can, and it will all turn out beautifully. Good luck...and keep us posted...

lulumama · 16/05/2007 16:15

that sounds like my labour !!

oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

lulumama · 16/05/2007 16:16

I know that sounds really stupid, this is no.3 fgs. It's not started on it's own before though. Just had 3 really painful ones about 6 mins apart. Should I feel absoultly normal inbetween though?

dh sorting out car seat into nanny and nandads car, just incase this is it. Must go and re-check bag. Don't want to go to hospital for nothing but on the other hand it's 45minutes there.

Ok, Calm, breath etc.....
