TMI, Coming up.........

Those of you that have had a show before and you don't mind disclosing it's looks would be good.
I had a little bit of what I thought was a show last week, like a bit of pinky stained slimey snot but I have just been to the toilet, and it was gross, this was like a lump of jelly. It was quite big and thick, creamy in colour and reminded me of that stuff kids get to throw at walls that stick on them. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, what do you reckon, just a weird show or was it some kind of alien product up there?

FWIW, I'm 38+4 today and MW did a sweep yesterday.

mckenzie · 08/05/2007 16:11

sounds like a show to me but I've only had one (dont remember having one with DD for some reason) and that was 6 years ago with DS.

bohemianbint · 08/05/2007 16:14

yeah, sounds about right! I got that about 10 hours before DS arrived.... Hope all goes well!

MKG · 08/05/2007 16:22

Mrsjaffa,

I really hope this turns into a great labor thread!!

lulumama · 08/05/2007 16:22

oooh....that is a show

might be just because you had a sweep, IFYSWIM

if you are going to go into labour within 24 - 48 hours , a sweep will tip you over the edge, if you don;t go into labour within the next day or two, then you might not be ready....

hang on in there!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 16:42

SOH described it brilliantly on the May thread, like the glue they use to stick the pull out leaflets on to magazines.

I was wondering that lulu if it is more likely just to be because of the sweep.

I like the result of yours bohemianbint.

I'm not holding my hopes, if it happens it happens, But I am hanging quite nicely at the moment, I'm really surprised at how chilled I feel and not too impatient yet. I was a few weeks ago but now I feel OK and even turned down the chance for a Medical Induction to be arranged yesterday.

OP posts:
Klaw · 08/05/2007 16:42

MrsJ,

Why on earth did you need a sweep at 38+3? Sorry can't recall your history... senility...

Anyway as Lulu says that sounded like a show and it means that labour will be soon. How soon, I don't know! A few hours, or a few days, but not long!

Try to be patient and wait for labour to start spontaneously, it's your best chance of a trauma free birth. Less intervention = less chance of instrumental or CS delivery.

Do please keep us posted!

And if you do give birth to an alien, make sure the government doesn't get it's grubby hands on it

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 16:51

Klaw, you make me giggle. We have spoken before on a Labour thread I think. I have NO history to be up with. The Induction was just offered because my first two were late and dd was induced at 41+5, I am in France, different policys and things here, they are all for intervention, but not forcefully at all....... only if you want it, thats why I said No I'm fine at the moment. I know how you feel about Induction, it's one of your hates hey.

OP posts:
lulumama · 08/05/2007 17:04

if you are 38 +4, you could easily go another 3 weeks, before indcution should even be mentioned.i know things are different in france, but stick to your guns !

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 17:07

Didn't answer that very well Klaw, sorry. You asked about the sweep not the induction. We have internals at every appointment so they are constantly noting changes in your cervix, bit OTT probably. They will do a sweep here in France once your Cervix is good????? Only if you want one though as I had one with dd and it didn't work I didn't think there was much harm in doing it this time. Hence why I'm not holding out any hopes for it to do anything.

OP posts:
Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 17:09

Ohhhhh don't know if my patcience will stretch to 3 weeks lulu. Not so good I know but I have a fantastic experience of a medical Induction here. Aghhhhhh I know you're all gonna shout at me.

OP posts:
MKG · 08/05/2007 17:18

I got your back MrsJB.

Induction can be great or it can be terrible. I had a good one (with possible second looming) and I would recommend it anyone under the right circumstances.

The nice thing is that your practitioner over there is letting you call the shots so no pressure for a sweep, no pressure for induction. Must be nice.

Klaw · 08/05/2007 17:40

As long as you are making informed choices I'm behind you all the way, however there are so many people out there who are not being given ALL the info, especially the cons (as opposed pros) and that gets my goat!!!

Yes I am against induction having done my research but if a woman decided to go that route at the right time, ie Bishop's score over 8, good mw care during process (not left for hours attached to a machine!) with all facts at her disposal I think it can be successful.

What also really gets my gander up is induction for no good medical reason than a woman has not gone into labour by the magic 40wks mark. There NEEDS to be sound medical factors like low fluid, placental deterioration, foetal distress, problems with the mother, you know.... reasons that indicate that the baby and/or mother would be in danger if the pg continued.

Being a slow cooker, on it's own, does not indicate that the baby NEEDs to be out....

Sorry

Rant over!

Well MrsJ I am looking forward enormously to your updates over the next 3 weeks, as I know it France's edd is 41wks, rather than our 40. However I'm sure that you won't get that far, what with carrying an alien and all.....

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 18:01

I agree Klaw, I think some women are not given enough information or do enough research to make informed choices. Mine are difinately Informed and although the French are keen to Intervene it is certainly not a must, I am definately in charge whilst there is no medical reason for me not to be. I feel Empowerered. I'm hoping but not hanging on this show meaning something and then I don't have to make anymore decisions that may be swayed by me getting Impatient.

lulumama · 08/05/2007 18:10

oh, i don;t do shouting !

keep us posted, we need to know about everything, no such thing as TMI!

Klaw · 08/05/2007 18:12

and no such thing as a stupid question either, eh Lulu?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/05/2007 18:20

You ladies are soooooo lovely, I will keep you posted, promise!

OP posts:
lulumama · 08/05/2007 18:31

klaw is going to move to merseyside, aren;t you, so we can doula together !

MKG · 09/05/2007 01:11

Mrs.JB,

I just lost mine and it was exactly how you described.

AitchTwoOh · 09/05/2007 02:06

ooooh, how exciting for you both. another good induction experience here, by the way. 38+2, increasingly high BP, waters broke and am strep b+ so they wanted the baby outski. it was fine.

lulumama · 09/05/2007 07:18

MKG !!!!!! get that web cam on!! woo hoo!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 09:48

yey, MKG, probably your gyne fiddling too.

Nothing from mine yet, had a few strongish contractions last night but they came to nothing. Will still be here in 2 weeks I'm sure.

OP posts:
Klaw · 09/05/2007 10:38

Lulu, I think you should come to Angus, Scotland instead, it's much prettier! I'm 5 minutes form Glamis Castle or JM Barrie's Birthplace in Kirriemuir. The scenery is STUNNING!

Anyway it will be lovely to follow more births as Cyber Doulas, so come on MKG and MrsJ, we're waiting for you!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 11:40

Waiting too. Very patiently I may add. Have just been to the loo though and this time it was a "bloody bit" ohhhhhh I feel excited to add the bloody bit in. LOL.

Off to a French class shortly, I'm supposed to be learning but sitting on that school type chair for and hour and a half is more whats on my mind.

OP posts:
Klaw · 09/05/2007 12:09

A bloody bit!

bodily functions are fabulous, just wait till you proudly announce that you've emptied your bowels during labour. I think the phrase I used was "I'd give it a while before you go in there"......

And then the joy you feel when you empty again after the birth, cos it means everything is working normal. Such small pleasures!

Or was that just me?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 12:26

Oh the first poo. However I remember it's never as bad as you think it's going to be, just got to let it all go......
