Can I quickly tell you about the fab thing I saw today?

First twin, direct OP presentation. Head appears, she opens her eyes and looks straight up at me and I swear she winks

Second twin, footling breech, delivered vaginally (big at my unit), just slips out - amazing.

Apgars 9 @ 1 minute and 10 @ 5 minutes. Within half-an-hour, the mum is stripped off and skin-to-skin with both of them. They both pretty much latch themselves on at the same time and are gulping away like, well, like they were born to do it

Honestly, sometimes this job rocks. And not just because I barely had to do a thing!

you are so lucky-what an amazing thing to experiance anyway but that is great

Snaf · 19/04/2007 21:25

I didn't cry during the delivery (although I warned the mum beforehand I might as I knew I was feeling quite involved ) because I was so busy concentrating on not dropping the baby in front of the consultant, the registrar and the senior midwife [gulp]

But, yes, I got a big lump in my throat when I walked in later and saw her sitting up with both babes latched on so beautifully. She looked fabulous.

oh you lucky thing you!!!!

yesireallycan · 19/04/2007 22:20

Awww sounds famy DD2 was born direct OP and we have it on video and it's just so cool to see her little face peeking up - my two doulas said they couldn't believe it when they saw it - was underwater too so it looks like she's swimming out. I held both my DD's skin to skin immediately after they were born (not twins) and just remember that amazing smell, I couldn't stop sniffing them, it was primeval, like I wanted to eat them or something. Cool. Sounds like you had the best day.

Klaw · 19/04/2007 22:39

Oh that was fantastic Snaf, you must write it up and tell all mw units and hospitals to quit with the interfering for Breech!

(Hands off the Breech , unless there are any problems which means straight to CS - Mary Cronk says so!)

I am overjoyed for you that you got to attend a normal twin birth with one Breech twin! We need more like this!

hunkermunker · 19/04/2007 22:42

Snafu, how incredible! What a brilliant day at work!

(Cod, could you GET more curmudgeonly?)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 19/04/2007 22:43

LOL - she's mistaken this thread for a weaning/b/f vs ff one

frumpygrumpy · 19/04/2007 22:46

I've just linked Mars into this, we've been talking about these very births this afternoon How fantastic!
