I had both in Feb 2007 mw did mention that I was only having the injection (Fragmin)because it was an emergency c-section, and they don't give it for elective c-section.

Hillary · 29/03/2007 21:38

I had an elective and they gave me the injections must be different in different hospitals

midnightexpress · 30/03/2007 09:26

2005 and 2007, both injections and stockings. God, how I HATE those stockings. So glad mine both winter babies, must be even more hideous in the summer.

eidsvold · 30/03/2007 09:28

dd1 and dd2 - nothing - no stockings no injections.

Dd3 ( last week) both stockings and injections. Same hospital as dd2 - policy had changed - everyone other than day surgery hd to have the stockings at least.

funnily enough it depended on the doc - another c-section woman on ward - no stockings and no jabs.

Had stockings - don't remember feeling particularly bothered by them, I think it's because i didn't have them on for very long - all a bit hazy.
Def had injections, had horrific bruises on my thighs where they went in. I don't remember being given a choice about them, though again, memories of the first 24 hours are a bit hazy!

kittypants · 30/03/2007 09:34

stockings with all 3.

kittypants · 30/03/2007 09:35

oh mine were april 00,april 01 and dec 05

Luxmum · 30/03/2007 09:36

I had both the sexy stockings, AND the injections.. Lucky me.

mrsmarsbar · 30/03/2007 09:37

just stockings in April 06 - they were horrible. Had an elective and don't think I had any injections...

NuttyMuffins · 30/03/2007 09:38

I had stockings and then injections after surgery too, with all 3 sections.

BlueberryPancake · 30/03/2007 11:15

Had both, in 2005. I suppose it's hospital policy - had the injections and the stockings even though I was up on my feet within 24 hours - They told me to wear the stockings for 3 weeks at home after the delivery (yea right) they went straight in the bin! I think that in some cultures, women stay in bed for days after birth, and weeks if they've had a C section. So the hospital where I gave birth (in East London) is trying to prevent issues with DVT as a blanket policy even though I really didn't feel that I needed it.

Rochwen · 30/03/2007 11:23

2005, injections and I didn't like them.

NAB3 · 30/03/2007 11:24

It was 2001 and I had stockings but can't remember about injections.

piglit · 30/03/2007 11:25

2004 - I had stockings. I can't remember the injections but then the whole thing is a blur...

sandcastles · 30/03/2007 11:26

Stockings 2003, lovely things!

madmumNika · 30/03/2007 23:33

I had both injections and stockings, but was v poorly due to pre-eclampsia so didn't move around much at first after the section

StinkyPete · 30/03/2007 23:35

had knee high stockings for 1 week in feb 03; then thigh high stocking for 6 weeks in jan 06. developed shocking excema on my feet which i still haven't got rid of (in case you're interested!!)

louilou · 30/03/2007 23:38

both stockings and injections

LaDiDaDi · 30/03/2007 23:38

Both but they think that they overdosed me with the heparin injections. I was really sick with preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome, my own clotting was starting to get a bit derranged then they gave me a dose of heparin based upon my weight at the time. Unfortunately due to how much I had swollen up most of that weight was water not true body mass. I ended up completely purple from waist to knees and with a massive haematoma beneath my wound that ended up causing loads of problems.

BigCremeEggs · 30/03/2007 23:38

whats the injections for?????

i didnt have stockings though

Alibobster · 31/03/2007 22:22

Injections every night for 5 nights and horrendous stockings which I was told to wear for 6 weeks.Lasted 1 week - this was June 2006 in the middle of a heatwave!

Sumsey · 31/03/2007 22:41

i had to have those horrible injections for a week!! oh my god they were the smallest needle but left the biggest bruises!! seriously they were like melons!! i was told that they were to prevent bloodclots...i have had to have similar injections before due to a badly broken ankle and they were for the exact same thing!!
