What does waters breaking feel like?

Might seem stupid but I'm 38+ with ds1 and I'm terrified I'm going to not know my waters break. I know some people say it feels like you've wet yourself etc but I don't want to rely on my trousers getting wet or a wet patch on my seat. So what did it feel like for you? Like you'd missed the loo or is it completely different? Tia

Would definitely agree with PPs who suggest getting a mattress protector. Makes it really easy to deal with if your waters break in the night and saves the mattress. Also useful afterwards if baby is sick while you are feeding in bed!

Audible pop and then a bit of a little bit of a whoosh then the trickling....oh lord the constant trickling that NEVER STOPPED. Then a few hours laters ANOTHER audible pop and same again - must have been fore and hind waters going separately. Continuous trickling right up until DD was born (and I may be imagining this but I am sure it went on for quite a while after too, even on top of the lochia there was a definite watery constant trickle for days).
