First labour I stupidly took always night, the mesh on them irritated my stitches.

Second labour I took asda maternity pads, constantly leaked.

Due 3rd in may and just starting to think about my hospital bag. Any suggestions for good sanitary or maternity pads please? Thanks

I wore the Tena Lady pants. Much better than pads. No irritation, no leaks.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 16/02/2017 18:23

I second tena lady pants very comfy and no leaks.

Mummytobe11 · 16/02/2017 18:30

I loved the mothercare aloe Vera ones.

Summerdays2014 · 16/02/2017 18:31

The Mothercare ones with wings.

Funnyonion17 · 16/02/2017 18:56

Oooh thankyou everyone, the Tena pants sound ideal.

Mothercare maternity towels and Tesco ones too.

Afreshstartplease · 16/02/2017 21:37

I used both winged night time pads and big maternity pads

So winged on first then layer up with one or two of the big fuckers

HandbagFan · 16/02/2017 22:26

Boots own brand were thick but soft.

daisygirlmac · 16/02/2017 22:28

I second Boots, much comfier and stuck in place better than the Morrisons ones DH fetched me when I ran out

Bellaposy · 16/02/2017 22:30

Another vote for boots. They do two thicknesses - thick for just after and then a lighter one when it slows down.

cocopops88 · 16/02/2017 22:38

I used boots incontinence pads, never had a leak.

westeringhome · 17/02/2017 07:08

Medicare maternity pads are brilliant - big thick comfortable and mattress like, the same as you get in the hospital. Then Boots ones.

minijoeyjojo · 17/02/2017 07:10

Tesco were my favourite, thick and soft. The thin ones were great for a few weeks in too.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/02/2017 09:13

Boots were my favourite, but I ended up with mostly Sainsbury's as that was the closest shop in emergencies Sad do not recommend!

I've looked into getting incontinence pants this time but impossible to find in plus sizes.

mainlywingingit · 17/02/2017 09:14

No bloody scented. I bought bucket loads of the things in advance. Enough to make me feel sick!! And large!

soundsystem · 17/02/2017 16:01

I used the Tesco maternity pads both times - no leaks. Big and soft, like sitting on a pillow!

GemSingleton · 17/02/2017 16:06

I used boots plus they were on offer.

A very nice midwife also suggested Kotex, they are a sanitary towel but don't have all the stuff in them like most sanitary towels do. She said use the Kotex night time as they are absorbent too.

You can get them from more independent chemists.

NotCitrus · 17/02/2017 16:07

Kotex night time were the ones my local chemist recommended and did the job.

NameChange30 · 17/02/2017 16:08

I've bought Natracare maternity pads, all natural with no crap in them.

divadee · 17/02/2017 16:58

I used tesco maternity pads with a tena lady discreet pants. It made me feel really secure about leaks etc... especially at night. I also had an incontinence sheet under the bed sheet incase of leaks.

3 weeks later I am on the always and just about to move to panty liners as there is not a lot there.

Saying all that I didn't bleed heavily as I had a retained placenta so had surgery to remove that and I assume they removed a lot of Lochia blood as I haven't been that heavy. With my first I was heavy for 4 weeks.

Funnyonion17 · 17/02/2017 17:09

Thanks so much everyone. I'm gonna buy the Tena pants and double up with pads too for the first few days. With my 2nd the breast feeding made me bleed much heavier and the leaking was horrendous, hoping to avoid that this time. Thinking black pjs for ward, Tena pants and one of the decent pads recommend should hopefully make me feel less insecure

I found the boots own brand maternity pads to be good Smile

KittyWindbag · 19/02/2017 07:34

Can I just jump on the back of this and ask which tena pants are best? I'm on the boots website now and there are various different kinds. What would people recommend?

welshweasel · 19/02/2017 07:37

I used the always incontinence pants, absolutely amazing. No leaks at all.

Minispringroll · 19/02/2017 12:37

I also had Tena/Always incontinence pants, which were great, especially at night. During the day, I mostly used the Natracare ones.
I didn't bleed an awful lot, though, certainly not enough to have to double up anything. Hmm
