Don't worry. I was sick but then that happens me easily. If you feel really sick they will give you an injection in your thigh that you won't feel at all. It stops you being sick. It worked almost instantly for me.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/01/2017 19:21

I vomited in labour with DD - was a stressful, scary induction.
I didn't feel even remotely quesey in labour with DS - a calm, relaxed home birth.
I think me being sick the first time was all down to stress.

user1474439326 · 25/01/2017 19:21

I didn't - I didn't even know that was a thing??

PollytheDolly · 25/01/2017 19:23

I did with DS1 right before the push stage. I was on a drip, had just jelly and ice cream (half of which I had thrown on the floor) the previous 12+ hours and threw up mainly water? I remember the queasy stuff did come out of nowhere all of a sudden.

DD2 nothing at all.

gazingatthestars · 25/01/2017 19:26

I had hypermesis - vomited every day up to x7 a day for 9 months - I didn't vomit in labour. Promise. The labour hormones kicked in and they don't make you vomit.

Biscuitsneeded · 25/01/2017 19:27

Nope, not sick, not even feeling queasy, and have given birth twice. I get travel sick, I throw up when I get bad headaches, or if I get indigestion etc so was half expecting to feel sick but I didn't, at all. Hope that reassures you.

gazingatthestars · 25/01/2017 19:28

Just avoid an induction as synthetic hormones can do weird things. Your bodies natural hormones won't make you vomit. You can refuse an induction if you go overdue.

Pastaagain78 · 25/01/2017 19:29

I have three children and never vomited in any of my labours

ICJump · 25/01/2017 19:31

Gazing stars that's rubbish. I have had two birth I vomited during the non induced one.

OP they can give you a shot to stop you vomiting.

Redkite10a · 25/01/2017 19:39

I had pethidine twice in a long labour with DC1. They give you an anti sickness drug at the same time, but both times I was sick 2 hours after having the pethidine. I've been told this is because the anti sickness drugs must have worn off faster than the pethidine. I wasn't sick at all with DC2 when I didn't have pethidine.

You might want try and avoid opiate painkillers if you are rwally worried about it.

panicstationscentral · 25/01/2017 19:39

I too am terrified of vomiting. I have spent almost my whole life obsessing and panicking about it. I would literally not speak to people I thought had vomited recently, not use public restrooms, avoid public spaces during norovirus season etc etc had to get an emergency c section and after I had the baby I puked a lot and honestly not one fuck was given. In fact I think it's cured me a bit as DD is nearly one and a half now and I can cope with her puke. They eventually gave me an injection to stop it. 1. You probably won't be 2. I promise you you probably won't care if you do (although I wouldn't have believed this if anyone toldFlowersFlowersFlowers

PollytheDolly · 25/01/2017 21:15

My vomiting was an induction Labour and epidural. My second Labour I only had pethadine and no vomiting but that's 2 labours out of squillions so....

No help really Grin

Three labours (2 drip inductions, 1 spontaneous - no vomiting or nausea.

Wilberforce2 · 25/01/2017 21:22

2 dc's here and have never vomited or felt sick, I had a massive McDonald's before having ds as well Blush

datingbarb · 25/01/2017 21:26

4 children and never vomited or even felt sick!

In fact I don't really know anyone who did vomit in labour Hmm

tobecontinued2000 · 25/01/2017 21:26

I was only sick when I was given gas and air, I felt fine otherwise.

Ask for some anti sickness medication, they should give you it.

dicdicnurse · 25/01/2017 21:31

I didn't with either of my labours. During the second one I was scoffing sour sweets whenever the midwife wasn't looking. She kept telling DH not to let me eat any more in case I was sick but I couldn't get enough!

Bunkai · 25/01/2017 21:33

I threw everything up in the early stages of labour. Quite a shock as I hadn't read or heard anything about it so was completely unprepared. In fact I had a bag full of nibbles to "graze on" as suggested by the books. Pah.

None of my friends did though so not sure it's usual.

Orangedaisy · 25/01/2017 21:38

I was sick twice in earlyish labour. I saw it as my body's way of clearing my stomach which meant I wouldn't poo myself in labour Grin

IHeartKingThistle · 25/01/2017 21:39

I was sick both times but didn't feel queasy for ages beforehand or anything, was quick and not a major part of the experience!

PinkSwimGoggles · 25/01/2017 21:41

I did, but it was not from feeling sick.
it was more a physical thing,

2 children, one induced. No painkillers. No vomiting :-) Good luck!

Cherylene · 25/01/2017 21:43

I never heard of anyone being sick in labour, so it came as a shock to find I wanted to throw up with every contraction. Midwife was not very sympathetic Angry.

I had avoided being sick for years and years - at least 12-14.

But for some reason, I just got this sort of 'oh well, what will be will be' attitude from somewhere, and it just never actually happened.

I had a very fast a furious labour, which may have been why. I also got to the crowning bit, and the contractions got further apart and I thought 'I'm going to be stuck here with the head at the worst bit, I waiting for the next contraction to arrive'. And I was. Then I thought 'Oh well' and got on with it. Labour is weird Grin

The last time I was sick, I had a kidney stone. That was much worse Wink
