How's it going Jade? You're doing really really well.

I was having contractions from Tuesday to Friday with DS. The midwives kept saying I wasn't in labour, take paracetamol, have baths etc etc. I was belly dancing down the back yard for 2 days to keep mobile etc.

The Community MW came round Friday Lunchtime to give me a talking to (not in labor, make antenatal for Monday etc etc) I asked her to do an internal and...she went pale, said 'How are you doing this? Your 7 to 8 cm dilated and you need to be in hospital NOW'

DS arrived at 7:30 with nothing but gas and air I played Trivial Pursuits and listened to loads of my fave music.

You're going great guns {{{Hugs}} to you and one for DH too. Keep it up. All the very very best Jade

jade1979 · 19/02/2007 12:25

I meant to add - have a boogie to try and bounce him out.

jade1979 · 19/02/2007 12:37

And just to add here's a great song idea for all you labouring mums out there - SALT and PEPPA'S Push It. LOL

Hi Jade - just wanted to wish you good luck

I'm due end of May but it's quite exciting sitting here at work logging in to see how you are doing.

jade1979 · 19/02/2007 12:47

Am doing ok (if you can call bouncing up and down to ride sally ride ok).

OP posts:
grouchyoscar · 19/02/2007 13:04

Have you had a MW visit, just to check all is OK?

Keep going!

jade1979 · 19/02/2007 13:11

no grouchy i don't see her for another week + 2 days (if i'm not in hosp by then) and havn't phoned her yet to let her know do you think i should, we don't get home visits here we have to make appointment at docs (moors the pity), i just thought it would be straight forward from now on.

OP posts:
adath · 19/02/2007 13:22

I reckon you will NOT be making it to your next appointment lol. If you are happy the way you are then I would not worry about the midwife.
I laboured like this with ds for days but not to get your hopes up once my show came there was no stopping me had him 9 hours later so GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
keep updating.

Do you know I get all tearful when I know people are in labour, I loved labour and giving birth and I am just so excitable now.

lulumama · 19/02/2007 13:37

dancing a great idea !! and keeping your fluids up! sounds like you are doing well!

grouchyoscar · 19/02/2007 14:25

Jesus, Your in Labor with a 1st baby and you're supposed to go to them! and I thought my PCT were rubbish.

Phone the midwife or GP and DEMAND a home visit...what happens if you have to get on a bus to get there?

BTW you're doing fantastic. belly dancing is good

{{Big Hugs}}

lulumama · 19/02/2007 14:28

call labour ward

TBH, until you are having pains every 3 minutes or so, you are better at home coping in your own way, as if you are not in established labour, you will get sent home

our midwives did not do home visits either

flutterbee · 19/02/2007 14:32

Good luck, I hope it won't be long for you.

grouchyoscar · 19/02/2007 14:38

God I was lucky (or bolshie)

jade1979 · 19/02/2007 16:04

grouchyoscar · 19/02/2007 16:13

Jade...some advice...stick to your guns and don't be pushed into a birth you don't want. It sounds like you're doing great and you have a very positive attitude. Keep it up.

And DH will be fine, don't worry

Do some middle eastern hip wiggling! Keep your pelvis limber

All the best

cinnamontam · 20/02/2007 08:53

How you going Jade?

Bienchen · 20/02/2007 14:31

Hi Jade, hope things are progressing nicely. DH will be fine in the end ... labour is one of those things that sort the boys from the men...

Just make sure you pop before I do (due Saturday!)

jade1979 · 20/02/2007 16:34

Doin ok Cinn, I hope i do pop soon Bien contractions still there seeing MW again tommorrow but i have been told i am only now 3cm (i guess thats getting somewhere) contractions slowed to 1 in 15 but regular, will see what they have to say tommorow. BTW more show last night, must be getting close to getting rid of all of it soon. xxxx

OP posts:
lulumama · 20/02/2007 19:25

3 cm is a third of the way there !!! just about !

you go , girl!

grouchyoscar · 20/02/2007 19:27

Glad things are progressing, if slowly. I was 2 cm for 2 days! My contractions also slowed down for a while but when the came, they were much stronger...like things were happening. You're going great guns.

Been thinking about you. Hope all is well. Have a big cyber {{HUG}} from me

lulumama · 20/02/2007 19:35

my sis had slow labour for almost 3 days, then went quickly ! x

jade1979 · 20/02/2007 19:55

Ok well just had pancakes, i had to make them cause even though dh is the cook of the house he can't make pancakes, contractions still no closer together but they are now really hurting in my back into my bum and right round the lower front just aboube my pubic bone but all the way across (in other words they bloody sting), am gunna jump in bath again before most haunted starts, i just hope i don't have hime tommorrow cause it's mi mother's birthday (50th), even though thats what she wants for her b/d.
