Does your experience of labour follow your mother's?

I've heard this lately - that if your mother was overdue/had a long labour etc. then you are likely to share the same experience? Similarly, if her's was quick and easy yours is likely to be too! This is my first baby so I can't comment but I wondered what others' experiences were and whether they agreed?

My Mum had me as a big baby and an OP presentation: long painful labour, followed by instrument delivery and episiotomy.
Me: exactly the same.
The good news for me is that I was allowed to move around and take up any position that I wanted to, my poor Mum was stuck on her back. And the MWs were much better at letting me know what was going on, and treating me as a human being.
But the best is that when I was left with an instrument delivery as my only option, I could have a lovely epidural.

No mine was totaly different, my mother was in hospital 3months prior to having me, with a 24 hour labour then a section.

I gave birth to my daughter natural using the birthing pool and only lasted 4hrs.

Mum had pre eclampsia and c section at 35wks, so did i. Then she had a fairly quick and easy labour with her second,so did i (tho induced as vv overdue). My next 2 were very easy and quick.

My Mum had long hospital labour with me and a two hour home delivery with my sister (so quick that when my Dad got back from playing with his band he put his head around the door and didn't even realise my sister had been born.He then got major telling off from Midwife for being out gallavanting!!!)

I had failed induction and emergency c-section with ds-1 and horrendous ,everything went wrong, long labour with ds2

chocaholic - I agree with this because when I compared mine & my mum's notes (during pregnancy) they were nearly identical - she went on to have me by emergency csection and I had my DS by emergency csection .... spooky My brother was a planned csection. I´m pregnant at the moment & am still deciding what to do.
