Hi gr8mama, fraid you're beating me, I'm only 2 days over (even if I feel about 2 weeks!). Are you getting any signs?

Hi ladies, thanks for your responses.I guess i need to be a little bit more patient. 2happy hang in there too, its so frustrating isn't it. Must say I've tried every remedy under the sun....nada! So I'm just sitting it out now....induction booked for Monday. not convinced it will work though...they tried to induce me for 26hrs with dd,nothing - got to a measly 3cm! Ended up with cs, so its looking like might be same again.....oh well as long as the little mite comes out ok I'll be over the moon. Getting a few tightenings today so I'm still hopeful, just feels like I'm getting my period...had this for days on and off, even had a couple of runs of contractions but then they just stop, has anyone else had this? Sorry to ramble...Love to hear everyone elses situations...x

Oh gr8mama that's really sad what happened last time, must really be weighing on your mind going overdue again, really sorry for you and hope this time will be different - c'mon baby, get moving!!

spalex · 23/01/2007 12:37

Hi, I'm now 5 days overdue too, and can sympathise entirely. I've tried bathing with some clary sage oil, hot curries, walks, sex (although that was a complete disaster, so the less said the better!) Am seeing the midwife again tomorrow, for an exam - if nothing going on will probably be booked in for induction next Monday Not what I wanted, but this baby's coming out one way or the other! I went 2 weeks over with dd, and was eventually induced with her, so it unfortunately looks a bit like history repeating itself...
Mind you, I've been getting a few more tightenings today, and am currently feeling quite nauseous - so maybe things are about to change (either that, or the hot n spicy pizza with extra chilli last night was a v bad idea!)
Good luck to all other overdue ladies out there - it's no fun, but at least we're on the homerun!

becks5109 · 23/01/2007 12:42

I am 6 days over due now and also totally fed up and despondent! birthing pool has been up in my kitchen for about 3 weeks now and as this is my second baby I was so sure it would come early or at least on time! Have hospital appointment this afternoon so will beg for a sweep but am dreading it in case they say cervix is still hard. Just been and done a big food shop and had horrible pains but not in the stomach in my fanjo which i've been having for weeks now - also feel a bit sick but think that's the thought of the sweep! Mind you had a sweep with my first and it was effective so fingers crossed. Hang on in there gr8mama and everyone else!

gr8mama · 23/01/2007 14:18

Oh ladies, its not long now, we've gone through nine months....its only a few more days until we can play with those tiny little fingers and toes, and feel him or her rooting on our cheeks...isn't that just sooooo cute when they do that - like newborn kisses? We are days away now...hang in there everyone!!! keep us all posted on any news....I'm sure something is going on today for me, loads of tummy tightenings, fanjo pressure, and 'period' type cramps....been there before though so I'm not holding my breath. Becks I hope the sweep works -i had mine a week ago, it wasn't too bad, and at least yours worked last time so thats a massive hope! Spalex - looks like we are sharing dates!! Monday induction looming for me too! Keep me posted. Thanks 2happy, no last time wasn't exactly text book but my dd is just such a sweetie, I must say if it was to go that way again, I'd be a bit gutted but you soon get over it don't you? fingers crossed for you too, let us know how it goes-lots and lots of luck! Loads of luck to you all ladies, please let me know of any changes/news!x

It's amazing how long the last few days/weeks takes when you've had months of being pg isn't it gr8mama?!!

gr8mama · 23/01/2007 17:20

God yeah! I'm sooooo bored. Can't be bothered to do anything. Lost all motivation to try and get things moving....nothing works for me! If one more person says "well he'll come when he wants to come" I think I will scream. Eating loads these last few weeks and my bump seems to have tripled in size! My waters broke 3weeks early in my last pregnancy, so this is new experience for me. Have you felt anymore twinges or anything 2happy?

OP posts:
2Happy · 23/01/2007 19:31

Not really gr8mama. Finding the BHs more uncomfortable than last time, but nothing that's made me think I'm going to go into labour. I keep feeling a bit antsy and want to do things, but then never do anything because I just find the energy either. Plus my ligaments are so loose that it feels like my legs are going to fall off half the time

freedomfighter · 23/01/2007 23:00

Am 9 days overdue today, starting to lose count of how overdue I am! In better mood today than I was yesterday as I've decided to ask if I can delay induction from friday (12 days over) to monday (15 day over) as long as babys heartbeat etc okay as my bodys showing zero sign of being ready...

becks5109 · 24/01/2007 08:14

woke up at 2am thinking when is this baby every going to come out and then couldn't sleep for ages. I should be enjoying some sleep and free time but just sooo want to meet my new baby and find out if its a boy or a girl! Can't believe we've got snow in central London - could be fun if I do go into labour and need the midwife to get here quickly - you know how the country grinds to a halt at the merest hint of bad weather! Have actually had less of a tummy ache since the sweep and baby was summersaulting for England yesterday but a bit quieter this morning. Freedomfighter you must be next at 9 days overdue! I too will try to avoid induction at all costs so long as baby is happy in there!

spalex · 24/01/2007 09:16

I've got the midwife this lunchtime, hopefully she'll be able to do a sweep this time (not ready at all last week!) The nausea etc has now gone away, and I feel like I could eat for England again - so clearly that wasn't a sign of anything starting! I'm still getting stronger BHs at night, and have this bizarre ritual now where I'm just starting to fall asleep and then convince myself that "this is it" (and of course - it isn't!)
Keep us updated on any news ladies! ps - no snow in Manchester, just the usual smog and gloom this morning!

gr8mama · 24/01/2007 11:44

Morning ladies! I'm still here too! Made a snowman with DD this morning. Gonna hoover the stairs and upstairs now...see if that will work. I've had some castor oil about an hour ago-not too much though (4 teaspoons)...its got to be worth a go! I'll keep you posted, thats if I don't end up spending the day in the loo!

OP posts:
spalex · 24/01/2007 14:22

Well I am now 2cm dilated, but the cervix is still quite long apparently. The midwife was able to do a sweep (just, I think!) so I guess it's now a case of wait and see. Failing anything starting off naturally I'm also now booked in for induction on Monday morning. Gr8mama, looks like we really are in this together! Let me know if the castor oil works - it sounds foul!
Does anyone know the success rate of sweeps in terms of getting labour started by the way?

2Happy · 24/01/2007 14:34

My mw said she doesn't believe in sweeps, but there again, she's never had babies so never been overdue and has no idea how frustrating it is . There's enough people seem to go after a sweep, and if you're 2cm already spalex hopefully that increases the chances you'll go... good luck anyway! I'm certainly going to insist on my sweep tomorrow from her!
gr8mama - my mother downed a whole bottle of casotr oil to get me out (man she really must have been desparate, lol!). She spent the next day on the toilet with sickness and diarrhoea, then I came the day after that - I was the only one of her 3 that she wasn't induced for! But I think a bottle is excessive, who'd want to labour after being sick for 24hrs? Besides, bleurch!

gr8mama · 24/01/2007 15:35

I'm soglad I didn't take more than I did! C.O hasn't done much but made me Feel sick and knackered. But I'm getting some tightenings so maybe something is happening! Hope the sweep works Spalex, Monday is a few days yet, lets be hopeful! 2Happy-your mum sounds very brave! A whole bottle-blurgh!!!! I had mine measley amounth with cola through a straw, straight to back of throat, then wiped out my mouth with a cloth before I could taste anything and it still made me wretch! Yes go for it with the sweep, got to be worth a go....my midwife can't understand what we are going through either.....he's a bloke! How bizarre is that? Lovely guy though.

FreedomF any twinges/news? 9 days over,crikey,poor you.x

spalex · 25/01/2007 20:29

Hi ladies, anyone have any news? I was wondering if all that castor oil had worked for any of you! Clearly I'm still here, looks like the sweep didn't work then! Fingers crossed something happens before Monday morning... Will just have to console myself with chocolate for the time being

2Happy · 25/01/2007 20:35

I'm interested to hear about the cod liver oil too! Sorry no result from the sweep, Spalex, hope it happens before monday, still a few days for it to move!

becks5109 · 26/01/2007 10:54

Had loads of twinges yesterday and thought it might be my turn but they died down. However, have had a proper bloody show this morning and a few minutes ago had a big pain so fingers crossed its the start of something and this baby will make an appearance before the weekend it over! Am off out to lunch today and had my last baby on a Friday after a girly day out so please please let it happen! Lots of out vibes coming to you all too. FF has disappeared so hopefully something is happening for her or has already happened?

2Happy · 26/01/2007 15:20

Becks, sounds good, hope it's happening for you! I think FF was to be induced today if things hadn't happened, hoping it's going well for her and poppynic who was being induced too. Do you think anything's happening for gr8mama - nothing from her since weds? [hopeful emoticon]

REDFRUIT · 26/01/2007 16:29
