Twiglett ... just caught up with this thread ... and wanted to say that you should definitely complian. I wish I had when I had DS ...
I saw him for a nanosecond held up over the screen then for a couple of minutes wrapped in a blanket with just his nose showing and then I spent an hour on my own in a dark recovery room while DH bonded with DS ...
As a result I didn't get to hold DS properly until he was 5 hours old (he and I both fell asleep before that was possible) and I think my bonding with him was compromised.
When I was pregnant with DD I made it very clear to all involved that whatever happened I did not want to be separated from my baby for more than was absolutely necessary ... and so had a fantastic experience with DD - I saw her come out (no screen) ... she was then brought around to me still all mucky so I could kiss her and then she was weighed and measured in the next room with the door open and I could see it all - the midwife and DH struggling to get the newborn nappy on that didn't fit cos DD was so big
DH then held her sitting next to me while I was being stitched up and she and I were taken to recovery together where I was allowed to feed her ... she was feeding less than an hour after her birth ...
Magic ... I remember saying on mumsnet that If I had known it could be so lovely I would have complained about my experience with DS 4 years ago ...
Hugs ... {{{{{}}}}}
