Is there any chance of me having a sweep tomorrow at 37+6?

I know they don't always work anyway, but I have been having contractions for over 4 weeks, loosing bits of my show, feeling sick to the point where I am hardly eating anything, have had an average of 2-3 hours sleep a night since the contractions started, I am as swollen as I think is possible, and I have now developed a very uncomfortable pressure in my bum (sorry if TMI) that is coming and going, all of which has left me massivly pissed off and seriously exhausted, if I beg and plead with my midwife to do a sweep tomorrow, is it likely she will just tell me to bugger off? (I don't think it makes any difference, but I am booked for a home birth)

Lulu? Anyone? Please....???

I was seriously considering using the crotchet hook thing in the homebirth kit to break my own waters at one point I was so desperate. God I was that desperate I even had sex with DP.

You could book a nice meal out with your DH/P for Saturday get your hair done etc chances are the baby will come before then if not at least you get a nice night out.

Thanks Lulu xxx

SK, I wish I was brave enough to use the hook thing LOL Maybe give me another week and I might be desparate enough to give it a go!! LOL

Contractions are coming thick and fast, lots of pressure in my bum again which is very uncomfortable, I am going to go for this walk round Tesco, get DH to have a fiddle later and maybe even sex, then if nothing tomorow I am off to get some raspberry leaf tea and some aroma therapy oils and have a walk around town, and if nothing happens then I might just go and find a corner and hibernate until the birth!

STERN VOICE

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BREAKING YOUR OWN WATERS!

THANK YOU!!

there is a risk of infection and hurting yourself.....esp. if not dilated....xx

There is no way I would be brave enough to actually do that, I felt like I was snooping when I had a look in the bag with all of the midwives things in, let alone actually use any of it!!

Nothing much happening here now, I had contractions almost constantly walking around Tesco, got home, sat down, tried to eat some food, gave up trying to eat some food, and the contractions had stopped but just got another one! Now the baby is going absolutely mad in there, and I can feel loads of pressure again, but not in my bum tonight, more in front but very low down, it isn't very comfortable at all and is bordering on being painful actually, I have no idea what that is but there we go.

I was only joking about breaking my own waters too!

Anything today NJ

I took RL tablets from 34 week, then at 39 weeks bought some clary sage oil which is utterly foul (the woman in H&B didn't want to sell me it she said I can't actually stop you buying it but I strongly recommend against it, it may bring on labour erm thats the idea" so every night I would put loads in the bath sit during Easties and rub it on my bump, then my feet including the reflexology pressure points relating to labour. It is absolutely foul by the way, DP use dto stay well clear of me he said there was no way he was coming near me stinking of that stuff so no sex lol.

Tried curry, pineapple, lucozade (WTF), dried fruit to make me have the runs, and nothing worked, gave up in the end and out she came.

I was going to go into town to get some RLT, but it has done nothing but poured down all day so it will have to wait till tomorrow now.

It seems I am having a break from everything today except period pain and discharge (more discharge than ever) but I have hardly had any contractions, I have had a few very very mild BH's but I probably wouldn't have even noticed them if I'd have been doing something other than sat looking at what to get DS for christmas! I don't know if I am glad of the break, or feel even more pissed off because it is obviously not going to be today that he decides to arrive! LOL I can't believe I am saying this but 'BRING BACK MY CONTRACTIONS PLEASE' at least it felt like something was happening! LOL One good thing though, I haven't felt sick today, though I am surprised, you don't even want to know how many calories I have stuffed into myself today!!
