looking for something that will be comfortable and nice to wear after the birth so wanted to see if others had any great ideas. The last time I had a 2pk from mothercare which were fine but I fancy something a bit more feminine if possible this time.

if you have to have an emergency c-section pjs will be out for a day because of the catheter.

thats a good point, perhaps I had better look for some nice nighties for straight after.

I saw one on line that looked comfy bit pretty. I shall see if I can find it.

searphine

Why bother - you'll be leaking all over it (blood from one end, milk from the other) surely?

Carameli · 16/10/2006 15:52

yeah I know, remember it well from last time, but just wanted something a bit more special than a mothercare 2pk of nightdresses.
As its a Christmas baby was thinking of a red robe and black underneath, seen some nice very reasonably priced ones in M&S.

Just remember it needs to have buttons down the front so you can bf. Am talking from experience.

pebblemum · 16/10/2006 16:36

With ds2 i bought some nice satin pj's, nice and comfy, elasticated waist and easily accessible for BFing also didnt run the risk of flashing my bits everytime i tried to get on the bed (im only short so flashing is likely with me). It also felt nice having something feminie after wearing dh's old t-shirt for labour.

Hope you find something lovely. However, it was as I was leaving hospital with DD that I suddenly realised that you don't actually have to wear pyjamas while you're in hospital - I suddenly felt like I'd been brainwashed, and I could have just worn 'normal' clothes, iyswim.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 16/10/2006 16:43

(and it's a lovely excuse to treat yourself to some new pyjamas or a nightie)

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 16/10/2006 16:46

I had a pair of old slouchy trousers and an old t-shirt that i slept in, and then stuck my normal clothes on..... i hate the idea of "in hospital therefore pj's"

I had becky at 12.15am, changed into slouchies etc, slept sort of til 6am, had a shower and got dressed. Was home by 5pm!!!

Monkeychopsmummy · 16/10/2006 22:24

Post-natal wards are boiling hot (even in the depths of winter) so next time I would take t-shirts and cool trousers for the day and very light pjs (in a dark colour!) for the night.

CurrantBun · 17/10/2006 10:56

Personally I hate and loathe nighties (I'm just not a nightie person - they always end up wrapped round me and feel really uncomfortable) so I'll be opting for PJs with short bottoms to sleep in and some slouchy 'lounge' gear for the day.
