LOL... how do you feel after the 3 hour walk and SPD !!!!
We are thinking about you
How are you feeling?

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 20:38

Well, I can barely walk but ds had the best afternoon ever! I'm nervous and scared cause dh wants me to go ahead and be induced tomorrow. Do you think that, because I'm so worried that it'll all go wrong again, that it's stopping my body from going into labour?

It doesn't help to worry....
When I work with women who want a VBAC I do try to explore their fears... a fear spoken out is a fear half resolved....
You might need to sit (for example) in silence in your bedroom, light shut....
Talk to your baby, tell him/her you would love for him to come soon, that it's OK to be apprehensive but both of you can do this. Together you will work in making this smooth....
It has been scientifically proven that talking to a baby REDUCES their stress level in utero.
Talk yourself into a good birth... I know I did this with DD... told myslef that fundamentally my body is designed to do this, millions of women do it every day. You may wish to tell your baby how you think this birth will happen...
Have you had a drink at all... sometimes a bit of alcohol DOES relax you and does a world of good.

pupuce · 16/09/2006 20:44

Why does your DH want you to be induce... talk to him about HIS concerns... tell him you need his support.

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 20:47

I haven't had a drink, may be worth a try so I can get some sleep if nothing else! I had thought I was very relaxed about the birth but I have been such a mess today and I have had buterflies all afternoon along with sudden bursts of tears and I'm getting more and more anxious, definatly not relaxed! Think I may take bump for a good talking to. Let her know how much we want to meet her.

He's concerned there may be a problem that is stopping her from being born. I think he wants her safely in his arms.

Good for you!!!!
Get that drink... have a bath.... relax.... if it is meant to be it will work....
And I know you know this but tomorrow you can ask for a scan (nit just a CTG) and NOT an induction.... you can be induced on Tuesday if you really can't stand it anymore....
The thing about inducing a previous ceasarean is that you can't go full gun blazing - wham bang heavy duty prostin and synto - (which is a good thig from YOUR perspective) but it may well mean it would not work!

pupuce · 16/09/2006 20:52

Fair enough... a scan might shed some light!
How late were you with your 1st? Are you sure of your dates (they are based on what?) How long is your cycle?

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 20:56

I went into labour 4 days over with my 1st but he was born 6 days ovrdue. I'm 11 days overdue now and we're positive about dates, it was a slow month sex wise

LOL
Fear may now be hodling you back... I had an incredibly long labour too with DS but a much faster one with DD... and a very positive experience... but I too was scared .

Daisymoo · 16/09/2006 21:03

It might be worth pointing out to him that full term is consider 37-42 weeks, so by that definition you're not even overdue yet. Accept induction if you feel that it's the right decision, but it must be your decision not because you're feeling pressured.

Maybe you could see how favourable your cervix is before making a decision - you might be about ready to go into labour anyway and so induction would be relatively easy, or it could give you the confidence to hang on a bit longer.

Labour vibes heading your way!

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 21:08

I think dh may also like the thought of me being so closely monitored in the hospital, it scared him too last time and I keep on forgetting that bit.

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 21:09

Thanks daisymoo! Labour vibes are what I need.

OP posts:
pupuce · 16/09/2006 21:11

Can I try to re-assure your DH... they won't let you labour like last time... because you have had a c-section... You will be closely monitored (so closely you'll get annoyed!)
Mears (MW) is right though
"I always think that when attempting a VBAC, every attempyt should be made for labour to start naturally. If all is well with your pregnancy there is no need to rush in with induction - you could be easily left for another week. If there is no sign of labour at 42 weeks then you could discuss options."

calvemjoe · 16/09/2006 21:21

Thanks pupuce, I think that'll calm him down a bit.
