35 weeks- Still don't know if having natural birth or CS

I have placenta previa and the stubborn thing is taking its time moving out of the way. I have had 4 scans now and another next week. They keep making me wait hours while they hum and hah.
I am so fed up.
Baby is sometimes breech and sometimes head down. He is also rather large- already around 6 pounds so outside the "normal" range.
I dont particularly want to end up with all the pain of labour only to go for an EmCS anyway.
I have had 2 natural births before. Any thoughts or advice?

You got to trust your instincts and never take one persons word without a second opinion. Are you on your own with all this or do you have a partner or family to support you?
How big is Baby now? I think they may be gambling against risk of infection because they are worrried she may be so small that there are higher risks of long term health problems. They would want the best outcome for your child. Good luck for tomorrow x x

I am at home now ;-) baby will be delivered on the 21st May which is a relief. Her HR was so unpredictable that I just think they decided to get her out ASAP. What with lack of fluid and being breech she didn't have much choice but to come out early. Thank you all for your advice. I will be on here daily, checking up on your progress now whilst leaving my drama behind me x

So just 9 days to go. Wish it was me! Have they added her current weight on your pregnancy notes? They did at my last scan two weeks ago. He was nearly 6lb! Glad you feel happy and reassured but surprised they sent you home. How often will you be seen until 21st? Are you on bed rest or any restrictions?

No specific restrictions but yes lots if rest. I will be returning Thursday for a baby monitoring session and a pre op appointment. I also have lots of antibiotics to take to prevent infection. Hr was better when I was leaving baseline if 150 which is the most stable it's been in a while. The hospital is only down the road. I won't hesitate to go back if I'm not well.

johull · 14/05/2014 03:51

Gualsa today must be your day of scan (35+6)?

A BIG BIG BIG good luck to you. I hope that your placenta has moved but that you also get the delivery you want. Let us know how you get on. I will be watching out for your next post. X

gualsa · 14/05/2014 21:31

Great news! Placenta has moved so I am heading for normal delivery in 4 weeks time. They did say he was on the large side so may come early but its great to finally know so I can plan ahead.
I just wish I had been spared all the worry for the last many months. They just kept getting it wrong. Sometimes they even marked my placenta as posterior on my notes when it has always been anterior! It's a bit sloppy but they are so stressed and every visit there was at least 2 hrs or more delay.
I really hope you will be fine Johull between now and your delivery date. Keep us posted if you can. X

That's excellent news!! When my husband and I found out mine had moved he actually cheered! We were so relieved. It's a stress you don't want. I found out my sonographer (?) also knew baby was breech at 20 weeks. So placenta privea and a breech baby could have certainly = trouble. Now mine is classed as high but obviously mrs is still breech. I will keep you updated as much as I can. I have my pre-operation meeting with consultant tomorrow which I am super nervous about!!!!!!! I then have a check up with midwife , last time I had a check up I was admitted for four days so am incredibly nervous about that too. It's all go now! Just think that in 4 weeks time you'll have your baby and I'll have a 3 week old. Very exciting !!!!!!!!!

johull · 15/05/2014 10:38

Had my pre- op today could t have been more nervous but actually it was so easy I feel silly for ever worrying. For those of you unsure what this entails it's just a meeting with each person who will be in the room with me when baby is being delivered. They answer any questions and make you feel so relaxed about the whole thing bi have to be there at 6;45 Wednesday morning. I'm starting to get nervous about that now as I'm not really sure what to expect. If anyone has any experience of c-sections and is willing to share experiences that would be great. I warm you though- if they are bad experiences then please do not elaborate as others will read this thread too and I would hate to cause anxiety in others; it's a nervous enough time :-) thanks x

I am walking round baby unit in Monday when I have my final day assessment appointment. I'm dreading that because I think it will really hit home about how tiny my baby will be when she comes out bi hate medical procedures too, I just don't want to feel anything it have any idea about what's going on. Did the person operating on you talk to you? Was it a quiet room? Did you ask many questions or talk through it? Did you have a spinal block- did it hurt going in? Lots of questions sorry x

I love reading about other peoples experiences, I feel that it prepares me for every eventuality. I am early hoping I get to cuddle my baby before she is taken away. She is measuring 3.5
Lbs now ( well 1 week ago) so I am really hoping for at least a 4lb baby, although I am struggling with optimising right now.. Thank you for telling me about the staff in the room. I was wondering if you felt panicked or worried by the loss of feeling at all... I think not feeling my legs is one of those fears that I just can't look beyond, despite it meaning that I get to meet my poorly baby girl...

Ok next few questions:
I am due to go in at 6:45 am- is that normal? How long did it take them to get you ready for the operation?

How long did the stitching up take?

When did you start to feel the block wear off? And what did they give you to supplement this? Would you recommend taking my own painkillers in?

Re: feeding baby through night etc- did you get to do this or was he/she drip fed?

When did your milk come through? Will my body know to start producing the milk 6 weeks early?

Many thanks x
