Hi, My best friend's sister's waters broke this morning at 27 weeks. She is having IVF twins. She went to hospital and starting having contractions but these have been stopped with drugs. She is now on a ward but babies will be delivered in a few days. One is 2lbs and the other just under 2lbs.
Does anyone know anything about babies born this early? My friend doesn't know what to say for the best. Her sis is calm as docs have said that the babies look good and they have delivered babies earlier then this.

For the most up to date info on pre-term survival look at the EPICURE study. The figures are 10yrs old now but are the best available. I will try to find a link.

Thanks Ladidadi, My friend(the mums sister) saw them yest and said that she was very shocked at how small/thin etc they were. The little one had some brestmilk yesterday for the first time and they are going to see how she reacts to that.
