I am 37+4, Monday morn was woken by quite severe contractions which wore off after a couple of hours, Monday evening i had a big show come away, Tues had niggily pains all day and a little bit more of show went to labour ward to be told head is VERY low but cervix not doing anything, Weds another little bit of a show....

and now was woken up at 2.45am with bad pains again and been shivery (chin going) and having contractions every 5 mins lasting around a min...still going on now.

What the hell is going on here lol, panicking as i am booked for elective section next Friday and really don't need to be going into labour and not have time to get asection, live around 20mins away from hospital, and would need my parents to look after dd, they live 15 mins away...GRRR!

Oh pucca, guess I'm about the only one up and I'm in the US . My friend here's been having the same thing and her elective is next week Tuesday. Have you rung the Labour Ward and asked them what to do? Sending you all my sympathy and loads of hugs

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:05

think you should ring labour ward ASAP, yes im in the UK and up at this hour ds is wide awake what joy!!

pucca · 03/08/2006 04:05

Alipiggie...Thanks for replying

I haven't rang labour ward yet as i need to know this is the real thing before i start getting my parents, waking dh up etc but then when do i ring?! just wish either my waters would go or these pains would p**s off lol.

Just a nightmare...

i think you need to ring them ASAP as if you are in labour and due for a c-section....

pucca · 03/08/2006 04:08

I don't really know what it is like to start off with just contractions as with my dd my waters went first.

lol redbull my ds2 (3) up too, at 9pm he's hungry. pucca are you feeling any pressure other than the pains, any more show. Is the baby still moving around? Blimey lots of questions, but hey will keep you focussed. I went shivery with my two, but had two very quick (induced) labours and the urge to push came very quickly. Hope about a cyber back rub then you don't have to wake dh. I'll try and be a cyber doula. Try deep concentrated breathing.

pucca · 03/08/2006 04:09

Redbull..thanks for the replies, i just feel like a pillock if i ring and it ends up the same as Monday where the pains go away, and obviously don't wanna start waking dh and parents unless it definate...god my head is up my a**e!!

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:10

its hard to say as i was induced with ds but from what i know every labour is different, better to be on the safe side, think you should wake DH and tell him as my DP would be able to think clearer than me as i would be a bit emotional

pucca · 03/08/2006 04:11

Ali...The shivering has worn off now, feeling pressure but have since Tues, with the baby being engaged now...oh i don't know.

Redbull...can sympathise with your LO being awake, i am surprised my dd is not up with me lol.

and also i went along the lines of if im going to suffer you are bloody well going to suffer as well and in future keep your thing away from me!!!

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:13

try having a bath that should ease the pain for the time being it will also help you to relax

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:16

bath great idea redbull. Then if contractions still going after that I'd ring the labour ward. I'd say you're establishing labour. My waters broke with ds1 5 mins before birth and ds2 as he came out!!!

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:20

thankyou Alipiggie(can feel my head expanding!!)

i had a bath on the ward when induced with ds as they would give no pain relief as i wasnt on the ward but i have to say as i was in the bath it was very comforting and when i got out the contractions seemed stronger so either way it helps you and if the pain is worse then ring the hospital

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:21

she's disappeared do you think she's gone to wake dh . Wish I could have had a bath whilst in labour with ds1. With ds2 it was so fast he was nearly born in the corridor on the way to the labour suite.

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:24

LOL, can you beleave when ds came out (bearing in mind i was in labour for nearly 60 hours i said its a baby!!!

well its either she has woken dh or is running a bath or has just gave birth under the computor desk!

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:28

pmsl think I stated something equally obvious , like oh it was a boy after all !!!!. I was lucky only in labour for 4hr 15 with ds1 and 1hr 15 with ds2. Do you think we need to fetch hot water and towels then?

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:31

oh absolutley you put the kettle on and i will tear up some sheets, oh as you are putting the kettle on any chance of a cuppa?

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:33

Absolutely, like a piece of angel food cake with that?

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:35

oh yes please just a little slice dont want to spoil my appetite for breckfast in 3 hours
i have 3 sugars please

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:37

go on it's only light and anyway, that sugar burst might just keep you going. If yuou like I could send over a bacon sandwich as well ready to re-heat for breakfast. I'm going to have a hot toddy as feeling snuffly. Trying not to get paranoid and think I have West Nile Virus - mozzies spread it here in Colorado

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:37

oh hello again just read your post on my thread hes like it most the time usually around 5 though, he is 5 and has ASD so dont sleep much the little scamp!!

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:38

Sorry I can't send both mine to play with your little man. I guess you sort of get used to five don't you, but 3, lol he loves pushing mummy to the limits hey

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:39

bacon sarny would be delicous could you cut the fatty bits of it though please and a drop of brown sauce as well, what on earth is that west nile virus??

Alipiggie · 03/08/2006 04:43

So glad you like brown sauce - yummy. No fat here -can't stand it, Jack Sprat here. West Nile is a fever like virus spread by certain mozzies which can cause encephelitus (SP). It's been over 38 here for days (100) and ideal breeding ground for these mozzies. Luckily I don't get bitten too often. Would your ds like something yummy to eat too

redbull · 03/08/2006 04:55

he will have a cuppa with lots of milk and some toast please, dp is just getting up for work can he have a coffee and bacon sarny please

do you think we still need the sheets and hot water??
