Anyone who has had a C-Section

Hi.

Sorry for being so nosy but I have had a c section myself. I was just wondering what your reason for having a c section was and if you had one, did you have one with subsequent/previous pregnancies?

I have only had one child and it was a c section due to PE but would've loved a natural birth but was told I should still be able to with my next pregnancy.

I had an EMCS with ds1 as he was undiagnosed breech. Have since had three VBACs and am hoping for another later this year!

McPheezingMyButtOff · 07/01/2014 22:58

I had a EMCS after 5 failed inductions, a body in full blown labour and a constant bishops score of 0.

greeneyes1978 · 07/01/2014 23:01

C section then VBAC. Emergency C section for ds1 as the cord was round his neck - he was 17 days late and I reckon he was never going to come out naturally!

Normal delivery with ds2, gas and air and episiotomy but not too bad all in all :)

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 07/01/2014 23:02

Crash section due to being in labour and dd being distressed at 27 weeks (that's the simplified version)
I had a straight forward vac for my next birth

Twinsplusonesurprise · 07/01/2014 23:03

Had with twins after 4 days failed induction. Was horrible and I was really spaced out with all the drugs, don't really remember much - sadly.
Was trying vbac for DS but went over due date, consultant wasn't happy with irritable uterus - too much strain on scar so tried to break waters, couldn't, offered drip and I had hideous fear of it taking ages like before so I opted for C. Was v glad as turned out DS was a bit stuck and would have prob ended up last min C anyway so I saved myself all that energy and his birth was amazing. All 3 are miracles and I adore them however they arrived though.

ShanghaiDiva · 07/01/2014 23:05

failed induction, baby in distress - emergency section under general anaesthetic.

ShanghaiDiva · 07/01/2014 23:06

oops, forgot to answer the second part:
second - planned c section on advice of consultant

NumTumDeDum · 07/01/2014 23:14

Dd c emergency c section due to PE as well. Attempted vbac for ds, fetal distress, failed forceps and another emergency c. If I have a third I've been told it will have to be c section. Not entirely clear on the problem -drugged to the eyeballs on top of exhaustion following long labour. Keep meaning to request my notes. I wish I'd opted for the c in the first place, but tbh just glad ds arrived safely!

The thing is, it will depend on your circumstances as to the advice you'll get from your consultant/mw as and when. I attempted because I got to 9 cm the first time before I had to have the c.

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 23:15

I have had three.

1st - EMCS after pushing at full dilation and failed ventouse and forceps. Dd1 was asynclitic (head at angle) and stuck.

2nd - Tried for VBAC but had EMCS after pushing at full dilation and failed ventouse. Dd2 was occiput transverse (widest part of head trying to fit through narrowest part of pelvis) and stuck.

3rd - ELCS. Was told initially I could have another go at VBA2C. At my 20 week scan I was diagnosed with complete placenta praevia with placenta percreta (placenta had grown into my bladder and uterine wall). Baby could not be birthed vaginally as my placenta was covering the exit and going into labour would be dangerous for me due to risk of haemorrhage.

BikeRunSki · 07/01/2014 23:18

First child - emcs at 10cm dilation due to undiagnosed footling breech,
Second child - crash section under ga at 10 cm due to uterine rupture on (internal) scar of first section, haemorrhage and dd's heart stopping.

Mrswellyboot · 07/01/2014 23:21

Emcs after labour for several hours, I didn't progress. Baby swallowed meconium,

butterfliesinmytummy · 07/01/2014 23:26

For dd2, planned cs at 41 weeks as baby was breech. The country I lived in at the time won't even contemplate a breech birth.

Dd1 was induced at 42 weeks but no cs.

bellsandbutterflies · 07/01/2014 23:31

My first c/s was failure to deliver - long labour, failed ventouse & I refused forceps.

Planned a VBAC for dc2, but had a placental abruption, so had a second emcs.

Was expecting an elcs for dc3. However he was born a month early, due to undisclosed waters leaking leading to an infection & another placental abruption. 3rd emcs & SCBU stay.

PinkandPoo · 07/01/2014 23:35

EMCS at 10cm because DD was brow presentation and stuck.

I'm having an ELCS this time - entirely my choice.

fhdl34 · 07/01/2014 23:54

Emcs first time after waters gone for 51 hours, labour didn't start, got infection, baby distressed. DD born flat, whisked off to special care but thankfully held her own once conscious.
Elcs second time by choice as I could not go through the same thing again (suffered extreme anxiety during second pregnancy which required emergency counselling to combat so to my mind there was a medical reason but classed as maternal request)

RhondaJean · 07/01/2014 23:59

Emcs at 32 weeks, dd2 was a footling breech and while I had a consultant lined up for a trial of labour (I had gone into labour at 29 weeks, found her while I w hospitalised, I was petrified of the c section) as I had gone into full blown labour at midnight on a bank holiday the last thing I wanted was a botched delivery with an inexperienced team which might have left dd with serious problems.

As it turned out the recovery was actually easier than my previous delivery but I didn't have any more children so no discussion about vbac.

Xfirefly · 08/01/2014 00:05

EMCS after 2 days of induced labour. I was stuck at 5cm. was luckily awake when DD was born but as they were closing me up I could feel everything suddenly so I was immediately put under Sad

SpanielFace · 08/01/2014 00:33

EMCS for undiagnosed footling breech, discovered at 5cm dilated.

impatienttobemummy · 08/01/2014 04:43

Induction and failure to progress ended in EMCS then vbac second baby induction forceps

SlinkyB · 08/01/2014 07:57

Dc1 - EMCS due to undiagnosed breech at 4cm, after being induced at 40+11.

Dc2 - ELCS booked for next week to avoid above scenario (and so glad I have gone for this option, especially after reading some of the experiences on this thread).

Definitely no more children after this.

CrispyFB · 09/01/2014 14:12

DC1 - Precipitous vaginal delivery
DC2 - EMCS - failed induction due to scar tissue on cervix (or possibly stitch they didn't completely remove)
DC3 - ELCS - no option as only exit route for baby due to permanent stitch placed during pregnancy

DC4 - Will be ELCS again for the same reason - stitch remains in place forever.

Whenever I see a doctor/midwife this pregnancy they all say this is one of the few reasons when there really could not in any way on this earth do anything other than an ELCS!

The irony being if I had my way I'd have a homebirth.. how I wish I could swap my circumstances for somebody who has tokophobia and would love an ELCS.

WeeTeaJenny · 09/01/2014 17:49

EMCS with DC1 due to undiagnosed breech - got to fully dilated ready to push then they noticed it wasn't a head coming out !
DC2 - VBAC after very quick labour with only gas and air and no tears or stitches

Mikkii · 24/01/2014 05:20

DS induced vaginal birth.

DD1 ELCS due to placenta praevia

DD2, ELCS booked due to second placenta praevia but ended up with EMCS at 36+1

isisisis · 24/01/2014 05:34

EMCS at full dilation due to fetal distress. PPH & baby resuscitated. Just had laparotomy via section scar so advised ELCS if there's a next time.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 24/01/2014 05:36

Dd1 elcs at 38 wks due to breech presentation.

Dd2 emcs at 34 weeks. Had gone into labour, failed to dilate at all and dd was in distress.

Ds elcs at 37 due to previous sections and was breech anyway.
