Changing the date for a c/s - possible?

My c/s has been booked for 29 August (39 weeks) and I am really concerned about school years, eg LO will be very young for year. I already have a DS born in May and it really shows that he is one of the tiniest ones, physically & otherwise. I would like to change the date but there are a couple of probs:

  • I was advised not to go to term due to size of DS1 (10lbs5) & severe SPD
  • DH has a really important work project which starts on Sept 4th ... so he is not keen to change it

I am seeing my m/wife this afternoon ... any advice appreciated

My ds is an April baby and is just over two. I'm terrified by the september girls who'll be in his school year. They're like sophisticated ladies speaking in full sentences and spouting philosophy while he's still on the pointing and funny word phase.
Why not find out in the scan, but if not, go for 1 september to be on the safe side...
Weird to be able to choose isn't it? I think I'm having a cs myself so will be wondering what star sign to opt for. Perhaps not so crucial.

DD was an elective c-section and was born at 39+1 but both DH and I feel she was too early.

DS (the oldest) was 10 days late and perfectly happy.

DD was very shouty and took forever (or so it seemed!) to get to grips with breastfeeding. She was a good weight (8'3) but covered in vernix and just didn't seem ready. She is very bright and alert (and gorgeous!) but everything DS did and we took for granted seemed to take her a long time - liking solids, sleeping through the night, etc.

I am expecting number 3 later this year and if I have to go for another c-section will try to get to 40 weeks. A recent thread said that in other countries term is 41 weeks, not 40, so a few days off term would take you to 40 weeks. That would give you some extra time.

DS is a July baby and still only 3 for a couple more weeks but he will be going to school in September. He will be fine as he is a tall confident friendly chap but I would like to have him at playschool for another year and him to be a bit further on.

LOL re star sign!

agree too that definitely want them fully cooked before they come out .. DS was 14 days o/due but was a complete doddle: feeding, sleeping, practically hanging out the laundry after a couple of weeks (which is lucky because I was a MESS after the 3 day labour, ventouse, episiotomy, piles, haemorrhage etc etc)
