I can't help wondering what it might mean that this baby is overdue

Baby now four days overdue.

At my last "full" scan in London they said to me that I was highly unlikely to go past 38 weeks because of the amount of amniotic fluid.

But now I am overdue and I keep wondering what this might mean. Is it a good sign? A bad sign? Doesn't have any implications whatsoever?

Anybody any thoughts?

9lb wow, he's going to be a big boy then! (is it a boy? For some reason I think it is, you might have mentioned it in other threads)
Anyway it's a good sign you haven't delivered early so fingers crossed. :)

hi. I think most of those scans are generally ridiculous, too much fluid, too little fluid, baby too big or ist it too small? they just worry you even more. Dont let them !! (easier said than done i know). One things for sure, your little one will soon be here.Best wishes and thinking of you. :)

marthamoo · 11/06/2006 22:28

Hey emkana, nothing useful, just saying hello Haven't been around for a couple of weeks but have thought about you.

emkana · 11/06/2006 22:30

Hello back marthamoo!

Thanks for answering mrsnoah. I'm trying to find the right balance between being aware of the fact that scans can be wrong on the one hand, and not succumbing to false hope on the other hand. Not easy!

yes, IME scans can worry you needlessly..quite usual to be late. take care and try to relax as much as you can (I know, 9 mths, in this heat, yeah right!)

mrsnoah · 11/06/2006 22:46

Too much stress for you emkana at the mo.do you have paddling pool ? get that out and sit with your tootsies in it tomorrow ! That should relax you a bit. ( if no ones looking just get in the thing completely and pretend you are on a tropical island )

emkana · 11/06/2006 22:55

If I get in completely I don't know whether I'll ever manage to get out again. Wink

My midwide said that babies weren't born on Christchurch's hot Norwester days, they waited until the Southerly wind (the cold one) came through.

Maybe it's the same with heat waves?

emkana · 11/06/2006 23:02

Dd2 was due during the heatwave in 2003 and was born just when the heat stopped.

em, the one of the great things about being 40 weeks preg is that you would roll beautifully out of the pool! Just make sure its got inflatable sides !Grin

mrsnoah · 11/06/2006 23:16

think Weebles !

emkana · 11/06/2006 23:21

That reminds me of the sight of Davina McCall trying to get off the water bed in the BB house...

not a pretty sight! Grin

My dh's secretary told him that 3rd births were fast and easy - good luck, I hope she is right and your bundle will soon be with you.

Just back from sweaty weekend away, and you're still here! I had so much extra fluid my baby's head disengaged and 'floated' away, I nearly drowned the surgical team when I eventually gave up and had a section, and I was the size of a 5'4" whale. But she didn't come early, nor did anyone expect her to.

Hope they're wrong about lots more, and thinking of you (especially as its SO hot today - hope you have a paddling pool to sit in or something).
