How long between show and your birth?

Would love to hear experiences, as think I had show last night and with DD it heralded labour. I know it can be ages beforehand tho. What's more common? Due date today...drumming fingers, mother on phone et cetera...!

Resurecting this - had a show last night, due today... Wondering how excited to get! Oh, and do I need to call the midwife?

pupuce · 04/05/2006 22:07

No need to call MW... shows can be the start or NOT of labour.... there can be days before labour gets going.
Is it your 1st ?
Any other symptoms?

Bouj · 04/05/2006 22:12

This is my second. Have had lots of false alarms - several contractions in a row then nothing for the last week or so. Had a, ahem, 'clearing out' session an hour or so after the show. Was induced with ds, so unsure about all this natural business! Am also desperate to avoid another induction (it is booked for 10 days time) so I am hoping to get lots of people say it was definitely before 10 days! Thanks pupuce.

pupuce · 04/05/2006 22:14

Clearing out.... hmmmm... that's usually a good sign (the show not necessarily) Smile

inkyminky · 04/05/2006 22:22

sounds exciting, had a show around 9pm then cleared out from the top end Grinwas then in hospital at 3am wih contractions 3 mins apart and 5cm dil. Fingers crossed Bouj. x

Bouj · 04/05/2006 23:19

Thanks all, has been 12 hours now, and all strangely quiet. Will do so vigorous hoovering today to try and get things moving!

SomethingAboutMary · 04/05/2006 23:20

jampots · 04/05/2006 23:26

Bouj · 05/05/2006 07:00

Still nowt going on....

Bouj · 05/05/2006 08:58

waiting...

Chloe55 · 05/05/2006 09:04

Hope things move along a bit quicker for you today. You're still quite a few days off your induction date though and you seem to be having positive signs of going into labour naturally so fingers crossed you avoid it. Keep us updated Grin

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 05/05/2006 09:08

carla · 05/05/2006 09:09

franca70 · 05/05/2006 09:51

I had a show with my son (after a sweep, but went into labour after a week!
No show with my dd though.

pupuce · 05/05/2006 09:59

Bouj - sex....

Harpsichordcarrier · 05/05/2006 10:00

Friday evening about 9pm
(labour already started)
birth Sunday 4am

Chloe55 · 05/05/2006 11:31

I'd go with pupuce on the sex front - that'/s what kick started my labour I'm sure of it!

Bouj · 05/05/2006 12:05

Had a feeling sex would be the suggestion! Bleurgh, can't face it though... Having twinges now, and plenty of braxton hicks but nothing major. Feel fairly calm though, pretty sure I should go before the induction date. Thanks all. x

mumfor1standfinaltime · 05/05/2006 12:17

Had a show on New years day. Had ds on the 9th Jan. He was due on the 10th.

Rianna · 05/05/2006 19:45

GarfieldsGirl · 05/05/2006 20:28

Was almost fully dilated when I had show with ds1, didn't see show a 2nd time round.

Good luck bouj Smile
