vagina etiquette?

I'm due in 7 weeks and I've allowed myself to get a little... ungroomed downstairs. Did any of you get 'tidied up' downstairs or did you just leave it until afterwards? I've never paid for waxing or anything and shaving is out of the question atm. I'm sort of thinking that whatever my vagina looks like the midwife will have seen worse but I don't know what the general standard is.

Any opinions?

I'm getting a vajazzle. It will say 'hello baby' in pink swirly diamanté. I may also get BOO tattooed onto my perineum to entertain the mw while she stitches me afterwards.

Grin at 'hello baby' vajazzling!

As a midwife I really don't care what a womans bits look like, and I can assure you it is not something we discuss, it is a total non issue as far as I am concerned. Having said that the other day when a woman cried out while I was doing her stitches, I apologised and told her I'd give her some more local anaesthetic, she said 'no no its not that, you just caught a pube!' Blush

Personally I did nothing about my 'lady garden' despite the fact that my friend delivered me, it just didn't bother me. (for some reason though I felt the need to shave my armpits and legs in early labour)

I was blow drying my hair (on my head!) in early labour and doing my make up. Why the fuck I bothered I'll never know as I ended up looking like worzel gummage by that evening.

I grew it nice and long as I figured my bits were going to be exposed to strangers for hours and any possible coverage would make me feel slightly better.

At 38 weeks i'm still doing mine and planning on having it all trimmed ready for labour. Not coz i care what the mw's will think. i just like to do it for me. It is a struggle though and do need a mirror to see what i'm doing. DP held the mirror for me yesterday although couldnt watch as it scared him. :)
