like, how did you fill the birth pool?
How did you keep hot?
How did you empty it?
Did you also deliver the placenta in the bell tent?

And many MANY more!

And, can I meet you? Am also in bell tent with 7 week old!

Yes I agree with Albert. It's the fact it was planned, at great inconvenience and difficulty for everyone, just so they could say, Ooh we had our baby in a tent at a festival.

If it had happened by accident it would have been really nice but the planning makes it all so contrived and pretentious. That is what I don't like about it.

BobbiFleckman · 15/08/2012 14:16

can the OP please hurry back and let us know if they've had placenta kebab on the campfire for all those kept awake by the noise? it's the least they can do...

glastocat · 15/08/2012 14:24

Exactly, its the self centredness of it! If I have a precious weekend off at a festival I dont want to be kept awake by some eejit giving birth in the next tent! If it was unplanned then I would live with it, but the thought that someone has planned it and not given a toss about how their actions would perhaps not be welcomed by everyone else, well thats what is annoying.

I met a girl at Glastonbury once who had been born at the festival, which I thought was lovely. This is totally different.

DilysPrice · 15/08/2012 14:24

Hippy water birth in birthing pool - sure, fine.
Hippy birth in tent at folk festival - umm, ok if that's what floats your boat.
Combining the two - WTAF.

glastocat · 15/08/2012 14:24

LOL at Malcolm and Cressida, spot on.

cakeismysaviour · 15/08/2012 14:25

How selfish.

I have no problem with people giving birth outside in tents if thats what floats your boat, but not in the middle of a bloody campsite full of holidaymakers/festival goers. I am struggling to think of a more selfish place to plan to give birth in.

Maybe Sharon Galadrial needs to pull her head out of her arse and realise that her need for a hippytastic birth, does not mean that it is ok to impact on other people's holidays.

Methe · 15/08/2012 14:29

I wonder if Cressida is a MNer..

DoItOnce · 15/08/2012 14:31

Hmm would a placenta kebab be counted as vegatarian or not?

DoItOnce · 15/08/2012 14:33

Ps, re earlier in thread. I am in Camp B. too.

halfasister · 15/08/2012 14:34

I bet Hugh FW will turn up to make a placenta pate

halfasister · 15/08/2012 14:35

and wank into cressida's hair

Numberlock · 15/08/2012 14:40

Apparently, instead of baby gifts they are asking for donations to the Chris and Galadriel Ethical Living Awareness Project. Wink

cakeismysaviour · 15/08/2012 14:44

Its a pity that their idea of 'ethical living' didn't include allowing other people to enjoy their holidays in peace.

MattDamonIsMyLover · 15/08/2012 14:44

It's a B from me as well.

I imagine they are the insufferable kind of hippies.

Noqontrol · 15/08/2012 14:45

I think its pretty selfish tbh. The fact that it was planned, they'd brought the pool and the midwife, and didn't bother to tell the organisers that it might happen is pretty self centred. Because it is possible that the organisers could have found them a quieter spot in the field where it might not disturb people so much, and possibly arranged a hot water supply separately that didn't take over all the showers for the whole morning. Its a bit entitled to go in expecting that might happen and that its all ok. If on the other hand it wasn't expected to happen but did, well thats completely different.

cakeismysaviour · 15/08/2012 14:48

Noqontrol - Exactly! This story should be put next to the world 'entitled' in the dictionary.

WandaDoff · 15/08/2012 14:52

Self-absorbed, pretentious twats.

DuelingFanjo · 15/08/2012 14:53

he he he, I have sent this to a friend of mine who is very anti-homebirth, I think possibly his head may explode with self-righteous indignation. Wish I was there while he reads it Grin

DuelingFanjo · 15/08/2012 14:55

this is his response

"WTF! are these people for real? Handfasting!!! GALADRIEL!!!! what an absolute ludicrous name more worringly where u find this shit!"

a ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

out2lunch · 15/08/2012 14:56

he he reading this and they just started discussing it on 6 music

FiveMonths · 15/08/2012 14:58

I think I may start an organisation in response, to be called the Campers' Rights Awareness Project, otherwise known as CRAP.

Twizzy · 15/08/2012 14:59

If you read the thing properly people. He WORKS at festivals and they tour them during the summer...where the feck else was she to have her home birth if they live at these places during the summer? I'm quite sure it wasn't some eco-hippy-twattery, rather just a mother giving birth to her baby in her home...which happened to be a tent.

Numberlock · 15/08/2012 15:04

where the feck else was she to have her home birth

How about the 8-bedroomed mansion they probably own in Surrey? Wink

Middle-class pretentious shite.

bealos · 15/08/2012 15:07

@lynettescavo I think you put it very well!

"I think giving birth in a tent, surrounded by nature must be the loveliest thing ever. Giving birth on a campsite, and using up everybody's shower water is just a bit odd. But each to their own."
