Leeds LGI or Jimmys?? Which is best???

Hi ladies, i have seen similar threads to this in the past but thought I would start one a fresh so its a little more up to date. I live in Leeds and will be having my first baby early Jan.
I know Ive got ages to think about it but would love nay information about experiences at either of these hospitals.

On my MW form I have gone for LGI as its a bit nearer and also because I would really like to try a water birth (and also as I thought one born every min was ace and rated the staff....sad reason i know!!!)

However, I have heard that the chances of act getting the birthing pool are really low as they only have a couple, plus at LGI you dont get your own loo etc.

I was put off Jimmys as I had a mmc in feb and spent 3 days there, wanted to start a fresh really (although I was on the EPU not the maternity ward so may feel different anyway) Ive also heard Jimmys all have private ensuites?? So although i couldnt have a water birth i could use a hot bath for pain relief up untill a certain point?????

ANY advice at all would be hugely appreciated xxxx thank you.

I had all of my ante-natal appointments at Jimy's, but I gave birth at LGI a few weeks ago. The midwives were lovely - but very busy. They closed the ward while I was there and the midwives in the post-natal ward were rushed off their feet.
I also wanted a waterbirth, but they were all full so I couldn't. However, my birthing midwife was fab and brought me bean bags and mats so I could give birth on all fours and not on the bed. I ended up with a 3rd degree tear so was pleased to be in the 'specialist' ward, although I'm sure Jimmy's would have been fine too. To be honest, I don't remember much about the room or toilet facilities. The post-natal ward was hectic and too warm and the toilets and showers were shared, but I imagine that is the same everywhere?
I think I will probably go back to LGI for any future births, or possibly Harrogate.

I'm facing the same decision - have opted for Harrogate in the first instance as the MW was a big fan and I didn't know much about the LGI or Jimmy's. Have heard contradictory stories about both Leeds hospitals (some love Jimmy's / warn against LGI and others are the opposite - confusing!) but can't help but think Harrogate is a touch too far - I live in North Leeds. MW said that Harrogate is less busy and many 2nd timers choose to go there which I took as a positive sign. Looking at the C-section rates, H is slightly higher than the national average, which could mean many things (less specialists there?). Clearly, I'm very confused so would appreciate advice from anyone with experience of any of these three hospitals!

I had my baby in Jimmys. Do not recommand. My friend had hers in LGI and said it was great! It seems cleaner too!

I had DD1 in LGI 3 years ago and had DD2 in LGI last week! Both times the hospital were wonderful. dD1 was an energency birth in theatre-I couldn't have asked for more attention in a difficult situation. dD2 was a really primal quick birth in one Of the midwife led rooms. I had a toilet in the midwife led room but not in the standard delivery suite but tbh can't pee when contractions are happening anyway.

Honestly I can't fault the care at LGI and would go for any subsequent births. I also know people who have been to Jimmy's and say it's good too.

I had DS1 at LGI, and it was fine. Busy and quite impersonal, I felt, but care was alright, clean, big delivery rooms. I just had DS2 at Bradford Royal, and whilst I had heard mixed reviews, I really rated it- midwife was lovely, I chose not to be induced at +11, and all involved were lovely, which is more than I can say for the community midwife, unfortunately. My friend had her two at Harrogate and really rated it. Have they not moved most emergency care for babies to LGI- I think for that reason alone I would choose LGI over Jimmy's.

Oh, and I forgot to say I had a mmc at Bradford, as well as DS2, so get what you mean, but didn't find it the same- the EPU was seperate there too. I wouldn't let that bit cloud you, if you plump for Jimmy's.

Oh, and I had own loo on delivery suite at LGI, but not bath- I had to nip across the hall for a bath after the birth. This was 5 years ago, and judging by OBEM they have had a refit since then!
