I'm also planning on breastfeeding again. I had minimal

Random, that makes me feel a little happy as DS2 was 10lb5oz and they were really painful. I remember crying at 3am due to them. So to hear that they might not be as bad.

RandomMess · 20/05/2012 17:19

I did take lots of pain killers with the other 2 around the clock, they were also a little smaller Confused?

Mealiepudding · 20/05/2012 17:23

It seems everyone has a different experience - I was lucky and didn't have any at all after DC1 - I had literally just a few after DC2 when I fed him (certainly not bad enough for painkillers, just like a mild period pain) - and a couple after DC3.

McKayz · 20/05/2012 17:38

This one is meant to be smaller so fingers crossed they won't be too bad.

MrsFlippingHeck · 20/05/2012 17:49

I was nearly sick with the pains after dc2 whilst I was bfing. Eased off after 3 days though

boston82 · 20/05/2012 17:58

Think I had one really bad day with 2nd dc. Was breastfeeding and on pain relief for c sections. Really dreading it as now expecting 3rd child.

Tinkerisdead · 20/05/2012 18:25

Whoah dc2 really bad. I had a c section and thought i was getting away without labour but bang, afterpains on a c section just wasnt funny. I was the only one on dc2 in a ward of 8. And only c section. Everyone else was feeding etc cooing over their pfb's and theres me panting away and blowing away 'contractions' esp when breastfeeding.

All these first time mums were going Hmm and the midwives were laughing saying oh yes afterpains!! I was groaning through them and my community midwife was saying did i forget to tell you its worse with each baby? Three days they lastest.

YoullLaughAboutItOneDay · 20/05/2012 18:46

No noticeable afterpains with either DD1 or DD2. So a positive story for you. Never had morning sickness either. Mind you, I breed babies who never sleep, so it's swings and roundabouts Grin.

Newtothisstuff · 20/05/2012 18:59

I'm on day 5 with DD2 Grin after pains definitely where much much worse but have completely gone now !! Defo stock up on pain killers !!!

Littlerayofsunshine · 20/05/2012 19:32

Just usual paracetamol? hot water bottle, warm baths etc?

I am so nervous now. EDD tomorrow. Emotions very high for numerous reasons. also pissed off as s.marks have appeared! :@

RandomMess · 20/05/2012 19:35

Paracetamol and ibuprofen alternatively - hot water bottle if it helps.

From memory they were very intense as i was actually feeding so warm bath wasn't an option!

I asked for antispasmodics for dc3 and 4 but like I said the pains weren't as bad.

RandomMess · 20/05/2012 19:36

Voltoral that was it, they gave me some at the hospital to take home with me.

MrsPaynie · 20/05/2012 19:37

I forgot about after pains Confused god yes much worse second time round (sorry) I'm on DC3, hoping they aren't much worse this time around. I remember lying in bed convinced I was in labour again last time around! Ouch

WhenDoISleep · 20/05/2012 19:40

Barely had any first time, bad after pains with DS2 - only two weeks ago so still fresh in my memory.

We were in hospital though, so had regular pain relief -codeine based for first dose but I went onto paracetamol after that as I didn't want to cause constipation. Pains disappeared completely by day 5 but peaked in painfulness/frequency on days 2&3.

RandomMess · 20/05/2012 19:41

MrsPaynie demand some Voltarol - I seem to remember it made it all so much better.

I would have taken the gas & air home with me to cope if they'd have let me Grin

Littlerayofsunshine · 20/05/2012 19:48

So they're all safe with breastfeeding??

Oh dammit, not looking forward to them (if i get them) I remember having them with DD, (no one had mentioned to expect any) they didn't last long though.

HOWEVER - breastfeeding pain - 10 weeks excruciating pain but persevered until 13.5months. Hope its not half as bad this time :s

OhNoMyFanjo · 20/05/2012 19:51

Oh my god, I had forgotten about them til they kicked in and yes so much worse. In fact at one point I really did think something was seriously wrong and I would have to go to hospital, and not not a wimp I gave birth to dc2 without any pain relief.

Littlerayofsunshine · 20/05/2012 19:57

Not looking forward to them, as i'm on my own right now with DD. until DP is home in oct . he was an amazing support with the pain from BF. will just have to get on with it i guess!! :(

tiggersreturn · 21/05/2012 13:47

None 1st time but was emcs so on painkillers. Not great 2nd but bearable. Was vbac with dts and they gave me diplofenac which may have helped.

CornflowerB · 21/05/2012 13:53

Dreadful here also, but I didn't know what they were, so the fear that it was something really awful was the worst thing. You are prepared for it. Be careful with those strong non-steroidals like Voltarol (diclofenac) because they can really upset your stomach. I was ok with paracetamol and a hot water bottle. My stretch marks disappeared though eventually. I used BioOil. Good luck!

ColumboIsMyHero · 21/05/2012 20:36

Blardy awful with DC2. Got some good painkillers and used them (diclofenac were fine for me). Oh, and I used more gas and air after the birth than during as they were worst just after the 3rd stage when DD latched for the first time.

maxpower · 21/05/2012 20:38

Had vbac second time round so was bracing myself or afterpains as I'd been on morphine after DC1 - I can honestly say I never felt one afterpain.
