If your DC1 was 8lbs 13 (or similar), what was DC2?

I know that there's no science to this but I'm just curious as I'm re-packing my hospital bag & trying to work out what size babygros I'll actually need. With DD, I took in tiny baby ones & new born ones as DP & I are on the shorter side & no one in the family had ever had a baby bigger than 7lbs 7oz. DD (born at 40+15) ended up being 8lbs 13, squeezed into the newborn babygros & the tiny baby ones are now being used by DD as doll's clothes.

DS was due on Friday & is showing no signs of making an appearance any time soon. I've put on about the same amount of weight as last time, my bump measures normally but I have had a couple of comments from MW/GP of "oooh, he's a big lad". At the moment, I have a couple of up to 9lbs babygros & a couple of up to 10lb babygros in the bag but am now looking at the up to 14lb ones nervously. I won't need the latter, will I?!!

DS was 8lb15 and was in newborn (up to 10lb) for a good few weeks. 0-3 would've been huge on him. Mothercare do a couple of different "newborn" sizes. I've bought the same size for DD who will be born in a few months.

DC1 was 8 lb 8 oz (born at 40+7).

DC2 was 9 lb 5 oz (born at 40+3).

Sleepsuits and soft outfits in up to 9 1/2 or 10 lb sizes have fitted each of them both times, for the first couple of weeks or so. Vests in that size or 0-3 months have fitted each of them too. I think 0-3 months would have swamped them as newborns as the sleeves are so long, rather than the body.

Ds was 10 days late and 9lbs
dd1 was 1month early and 8lb 6.
Dd2 was right on time and 8lb 13.

No pattern and not once did i have the correct size clothes but by dc3. I had 3 sizes bagged up at home for dh to bring in :)

DS1- 8.15 (40+3)
DS2- 7.2 (37)
DS3- 8.3 (40)
All three were fast labours (no pushing with 2 or 3), all three were back to back, but I only needed stitches with DS2 who was the smallest.

DS1.....9lb, 5oz
DS2.....9lb, 13oz
DD.......9lb, 2.5oz

All were in newborn for 2 weeks, then went into 0-3.

TruthSweet · 15/05/2012 23:31

DD1 was 7lb 12oz - 38w 4
DD2 was 7lb 6oz - 39w 5
DD3 was 8lb 10 - 39w 5 - huge surprise as I hadn't measured bigger or had any 'that's a big baby' chats from the MW

All have worn newborn with the exception of DD2 who wore prem clothes and DD1's dolly's clothes for the first few weeks. DD2 is now even taller then DD1 was at the same age and DD3 is the runt of the litter so go figure!

I am most intrigued to see what DD4 turns out like!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 15/05/2012 23:40

DD1 - 8lb 10oz at 40 wks on the nose
DD2 - 10lb at 41 wks

DD2 was in newborn for about 30 seconds.

workshy · 15/05/2012 23:44

DD1 8lb 13oz born at 40+13
DD2 8lb 12oz born at 40+6

both went into 0-3 straight away as they were very long babies

Northernlurker · 15/05/2012 23:52

dd1 was 8 8 at 42 weeks and dd2 was 8 11 at 41 weeks. Dd3 was 7 15 at 41 weeks. All of them wore new born for about a fortnight then were in to 0-3. You're not going to need tiny baby!

RobynLou · 16/05/2012 00:03

DD1 8lb4oz at 40 weeks
DD2 10lb3oz at 40+11

she was back to back all the way out, got a bit stuck but didn't need any 'help'

nb was too small on day 1 and she held up her had at 2hours old!

She looked like one of those newborns in soap operas who are actually 3months, just smeared with a bit of yunk!

DD1 8lb 15oz
DD2 7lb 11.5oz
DS1 7lb (ish - not sure due to MW foul up)
DS2 9lb 6oz
