If your DC1 was 8lbs 13 (or similar), what was DC2?

I know that there's no science to this but I'm just curious as I'm re-packing my hospital bag & trying to work out what size babygros I'll actually need. With DD, I took in tiny baby ones & new born ones as DP & I are on the shorter side & no one in the family had ever had a baby bigger than 7lbs 7oz. DD (born at 40+15) ended up being 8lbs 13, squeezed into the newborn babygros & the tiny baby ones are now being used by DD as doll's clothes.

DS was due on Friday & is showing no signs of making an appearance any time soon. I've put on about the same amount of weight as last time, my bump measures normally but I have had a couple of comments from MW/GP of "oooh, he's a big lad". At the moment, I have a couple of up to 9lbs babygros & a couple of up to 10lb babygros in the bag but am now looking at the up to 14lb ones nervously. I won't need the latter, will I?!!

DC1 - 7lb14 3 days early
DC2 - 8lb3 6 days early
DC3 - 7 days late, huge bump and mw said baby felt big, 7lb11! Turned out it was mostly water.

cutegorilla · 15/05/2012 13:56

Oh and biggest baby was by far the fastest labour.

ouryve · 15/05/2012 13:58

DS1 - 8lb7
DS2 - 7lb5

Thatisnotitatall · 15/05/2012 14:00

My first was my biggest (9lb 1 oz) - her brothers were both 8lb 6 oz but they were also both 38 weeks gestation whereas she was over 41 weeks... so possibly tells you nothing!

Lizzylou · 15/05/2012 14:02

DS1 8lb 13oz
DS2 10lb 11oz

Both ventouse, shorter labour with second

Believe me you'd know if this one is lots bigger, I could tell DS2 was a big one from 6mths on.

peachypips · 15/05/2012 14:07

Hey murtette - My first was 8lbs 8oz but was 8 days late.
DS2 was 8lbs 10oz but was ten days early.
ENCOURAGEMENT coming....

DS1 got stuck at pushing stage and I had failed forceps attempt then an EMCS. I never had the urge to push.

With DS2 I was in established labour for 45 mins and pushed for 4 mins and he shot out!! I had the tremendous urge to push that I hadn't had at all with DS1 - a lovely experience.

All the best! Hoping for a quick one for you!

Pippinella · 15/05/2012 14:10

8lb 12oz
9lb 7oz - wouldn't fit any newborn clothes.

colditz · 15/05/2012 14:11

Ds1 8lb 7 - 2 weeks overdue
Ds2 8 lb 4 - 2 weeks overdue

StealthToddler · 15/05/2012 14:13

DS1 8lb 5oz - 10 days late
DS2 6lb 11 - 7 eays early
DS3 8lb 8 - 7 days late - and he was the easiest one.

FunnysInLaJardin · 15/05/2012 14:15

Both 14 days over due, DS1 - 8lb 3oz, DS2 - 7lb 3oz. So we did get to use soem teeny tiny newborn stuff with DS2, but not DS1

Flisspaps · 15/05/2012 14:19

DD 8lb 2oz

DD 11lb 7oz

Floggingmolly · 15/05/2012 14:20

Dd - 9.14.

Ds1. 9.12
Ds2. 8.4
It's completely unpredictable Smile

dottygamekeeper · 15/05/2012 14:20

DS 8lb 10oz, DD 9lb 6oz both full term, long labour ending in ventouse whilst being prepped for EMCS with first, second much quicker labour, no probs except a tear

gymboywalton · 15/05/2012 14:21

ds1 -8lbs 8oz
ds2 8lbs 13oz

Floggingmolly · 15/05/2012 14:21

Jesus Flisspaps! Shock

Bumpsadaisie · 15/05/2012 14:24

DD was 8lb exactly at 40+1 (induction)
DS was 9lb 4oz at 40+10

DS was by far the easier birth ....

naturalbaby · 15/05/2012 14:26

ds1 - 8lb 12
ds2 - 8lb 2. no pushing, birth pool not ready.
ds3 8lb 3. flew out in about 1/2hr before the midwife arrived.

I had 3 in 3 yrs so my body was still recovering really, rather than growing massive babies.

Bumpsadaisie · 15/05/2012 14:27

PS my DS went straight into 0-3. It depends on their shape. He wasn't a particularly chubby 9lb4oz, just very long bodied and long legged.

Flisspaps · 15/05/2012 14:28

floggingmolly quite! I still feel ridiculous typing or saying it, I still think they were having me on!

lemniscate · 15/05/2012 14:29

DS: 9lb
DD: 9lb :o

0-3 would have drowned them at birth - I think all their weight was in their massive (>95th centile) heads! Both of them actually fitted into the newborn babygros for a month, but neither of them actually put any weight on for 3 weeks!

I clearly make clone babies: If I have DC3, I would die of shock if it wasn't a 9lber with a massive head who didn't put weight on for 3 weeks :)

kat1885 · 15/05/2012 14:52

Ds 1 born at 40+1 8lb 4oz
Ds 2 born at 40+13 7lb 13.5oz

I measured a week ahead on ds2 and measured spot on with ds1 :)

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 15/05/2012 15:33

DS1 - 2 weeks overdue - just under 9lbs. Put on 3 and a half stone

DS2 - born at 38 weeks plus 6 days - 8 lbs 6 oz. Put on 3 stone. He'd have been a whopper if he'd gone to 42 weeks like his brother. Curiously, even though he was only 5 or so lbs lighter, he did need the smaller babygrows...

madwomanintheattic · 15/05/2012 15:39

They told me dd1 was 10.13 and made me have elcs. She was 8.6. Next two were 9lbs and even though they told me they were big I ignored them and went for vbac. No real definite increase in size with subsequent pg.... But there might be for you!

All of them were only in 0-3 for a week or two, tbh.
