Hello! Im 40+4 today, not quite at the fed up stage as this is my third, and last PG so I am savouring it! (quite difficult with 2 DD's running around making me stressed!).

Any signs? None from me, have had a bit of cramping on/off the last couple of days but thats all. Irritability for no reason but in a surprisingly good mood today and have had a good clean of the house and caught up on all my washing horrah!

Enjoy your last few days of bump-hood to anyone hanging about and hope baby is with you soon!!

hi girls

my waters (probably just hind waters so far) went yesterday tea time so i'm on my way finally. No labour signs yet but have to go in for induction in the morning if nothing has happened. 40+6 today.

mamarara · 26/01/2012 17:56

Evening all
Yippee to waters going supa - good luck! Hope you labour naturally and avoid the induction. Come back and tell us it just popped out :)

How was your sweep preggo? I read your other thread and really feel for you. Nothing useful to add (so didn't) apart from sympathy and a shared dread of induction.

I Was thinking the same thing about c section over induction k. I hate the idea of both - would rather my womb gets on and does its thing. But induction terrifies me and might end in a cs anyway. So maybe it's better to bite the bullet and just go cs? I also have a constant stream of women telling me about awful things that happened to overdue babies (thanks!) and the men just keep asking what 'are they going to do about it if...you know' (cringe as we realise dad/fil is making reference to my failed lady parts).

And am with you on the rubbish mum front klinda. I am v grumpy and preoccupied. Although did get 2 yr old dd to shout 'come out now baby' at my belly which provided a few mins of amusement.

Anyway - happy passing of yet another pregnant day ladies. May your wombs be contracty and your babies keen to see the outside world!

PreggoEggo · 26/01/2012 18:38

supa what was it like when your waters broke? Im not sure if mine have gone?? I had a very vigorous sweep this afternoon (can stretch 5cm!! woop!) then about 2 hours later went for a wee and when i'd finished more fluid came out (quite a bit) but since then nothing, and no contractions either. I rang the mw and she said wear a pad and if it gets wet then its your waters, if it stays dry overnight then not.

will catch up properly later DH just got girls out of the bath so i must go and help dry and put to bed! then relaaaaaax and do more ball bouncing...!

hmm, when my waters go they kinda leak for a couple of days. the most obvious way to tell is if you get 'pooling' so lay in one position and then when you move it gushes a bit. also if it is waters you should be able to 'push' it out. the mws always get you to cough for that reason when assessing you. they smell sweet too! should be colourless or tinged pink. if green or brown tinged go straight to hospital due to merconium.
with ds my main waters went in a massive gush in hospital - no wondering about it, but my hind waters do go in leaks like i say.
tbh the pad thing doesnt really help because they absorb everything they dont get wet. better not to wear one and then if you pants/bedding gets wet you know.....

willowstar · 26/01/2012 22:02

hello, mind if I join you? I was due yesterday and am already sick of the texts/phone calls/facebook messages asking me if anything is going on! Preggo - interested that you said that about going to the toilet then a bit later having some more coming out. I have been having the same for a few days, i just assumed my pelvic floor muscles were really giving up the ghost and combined with the position of the baby I just wasn't emptying my bladder fully. Last time my waters went I was in no doubt about it, went in a rush then leaked for hours. Horrible.

My husband is looking forward to donating his prostaglandins to the effort tomorrow night though I can't imagine how we will manage it and it is the last thing I fancy at the moment! I have haemorrhoids and feel fat and horrible but he seems undettered.

Oh and I feel like I am being a crap mum too at the moment. Today I was almost counting down the hours until I could pack my little girl off to bed :-( just so tired and sore, I can't deal with her as patiently as I would like to.

Last time I was 5 days early so I really didn't expect to find myself in this position, don't quite know what to do with myself. I was so psyched up for the birth the last few weeks and now I have sort of plateaued and almost forgotten about it, strangely.

good luck everyone.

owl13 · 26/01/2012 22:16

Reflexology was lovely. Worth every penny even if it doesn't get things moving. Thanks for the update Preggo. Tomorrow, I'm going to try and get more answers re what induction might mean at my chosen hospital, and to what extent my wishes could/would be taken into account.

mamarara · 28/01/2012 11:00

Morning ladies.
How are you all? Any joy?
Preggo am thinking of you and hope the lack of post means you're in labour!
Day 8 in the overdue house today and I am fed up beyond belief. I don't think this baby is ever actually coming out. Just feel like crying and that all my 'trust in your body' positive thinking was actually bollocks. Rar.
Hope you are all feeling well and popping babies out left, right and centre.

PreggoEggo · 28/01/2012 17:18

+12 today had to go in for monitoring. Have moved induction to monday but reading more horror posts on it so really really really not looking forward to it. Naughty baby come on pleeeeeease!!!!! They want me to go in tomorrow to be monitored again, honestly I find this all so unnecessary! It just seems OTT, surely I can notify them if movements change/I feel something is wrong. Having to arrange childcare for my two DD's is just a nightmare. Come on out tonight baby!!!

Klinda · 28/01/2012 19:19

Good luck Preggo thinking of you and sending lots of 'baby come out' vibes your way!
Had second sweep yesterday and cervix looking even more favourable and now 3cm dilated, midwife kept telling me I'd go into labour that night....baby had other ideas. Nothing much today but think first bit of show turned up earlier which makes me feel more positive as when had show with DS1 he turned up 2 days later. Meant to be having another sweep tomorrow but think I'll put it off until Mon or Tues if more show shows itself.
Good luck everyone!

mamarara · 28/01/2012 20:44

Oh fingers crossed preggo - really hope your baby shows up tonight!

And happy sweep vibes kinda. I gave in and went for a sweep today - vigorous is the nicest way to put it. Some cramps, now nothing. Beyond fed up!

PreggoEggo · 29/01/2012 06:46

Hope things kick off for you kilinda, sounds similar to me but hopefully you'll have a baby soon!! (unlike myself and am now questioning if i am in fact pregnant). I had a huge show on monday which I thought was all of it, then had some more i think thursday.

mama really hoping the sweep was worth it. I dont think mine has done anything. why am i still pregnant?? tomorrow is induction day and Im so unhappy about it, i so want my home birth. Last night i ate a whole pineapple, bounced on the ball, had some time with DH and i was so relaxed it was a lovely evening. I thought ok im ready baby out, and nothing. Just another restless night.

have just eaten a choc cupcake at 630 this morning as i cant feel any lower so might aswell. Back in for more boring monitoring today which is so silly as baby was crazy active last night. I feel like everyone is putting their lives on hold til i have this baby, sigh.

Hows everyone else?? baby news??? I wont be envious promise......!!!

OP posts:
mamarara · 29/01/2012 10:11

Oh preggo am gutted for you! Think you deserve to eat cupcakes all day if you want to. Will keep fingers crossed that your baby makes a move today / tonight sometime.

+9 for me and am quite frankly feeling a bit stabby. If one more person asks me why I haven't had a baby yet I may not be responsible for my actions. At the sweep yesterday the mw said she thought she'd see me definitely in labour last night. Got my hopes up! But no. Rar.

Any post sweep joy for you klinda?

PreggoEggo · 29/01/2012 10:21

I think thats whats makes it worse is when you have false hope- after my second sweep my mw was saying things were 'favourable' so you gear yourself up. Ive now resorted to telling people Im not actually pregnant and this is just a food baby. :/

OP posts:
mamarara · 29/01/2012 16:51

Lol you're doing better than me then. I am now avoiding phone calls, texts and FB as can't bear it any longer.

Am going to do a little rain dance type thing now - primarily for preggo. Come on baby!...

PreggoEggo · 29/01/2012 18:12

thanks mama! :) I have just been dancing in the kitchen lol, just had a lovely roast, glass of wine, and hot bath earlier. So am totally chilled... not even going to think about tomorrow til it's upon me. Or at least tell myself that...

morethemerrier · 29/01/2012 19:07

Preggo dont give up hope just yet! I beat induction by a couple of hours with DS2!

Was due in hospital at 8am had him at 5.50am, they actually had my file on the desk ready for the list for inductions that morning!

Happy Labour Thoughts to you all!!! Grin

BrownB · 30/01/2012 00:55

I have just found this thread - and have skimmed to the end. I hope all has kicked off Preggo. Nice to hear that some have pipped the induction at the post Merrier.

I am currently 40+8 and am going mental. I am booked into a birthing centre, and they keep threatening to send me to the labour ward if anything falls off the straight and narrow. Why do they do that with the constant warnings (threats)? I am also fed up and bored of it all. Felt as if I were prepared for the birth etc about 2 weeks ago, and was quite zen about it all. Loads of BH when walking etc, and backache had fooled me into believing that I might be coming along.... Anyway - my zen is no longer. Had my first sweep on Sunday - the mw declared my cervix to be posterior and clamped shut. I cried for most of the day. Bloody ridiculous I know, but there you are.

PreggoEggo · 30/01/2012 07:11

Hi BrownB, I think thats so naughty of them to give you warnings. Esp as you had readied your mind into a state of calm. This is supposed to be one of the most natural things a woman can do. I totally feel where you are coming from. A few weeks ago, (even days ago) I have been so chilled out about the whole thing. Now it's turning into a war against me and the mw's. it shouldnt be this way, we should have full support, without the guilt.

merrier- i dont think ill be as lucky as you- just gone 7am and still nothing. Due to call them at 8. Hoping they will be fully booked today, ha ha. Going to see if i can just discuss what my alternative options are (must write down all my questions before i forget). Feeling very very low today. But maybe i just need some perspective, at the end of the day (maybe literally) im going to meet my new little baby, and thats what i keep telling myself to focus on. Yes I will be bitterly disappointed if i dont have my home birth, and have so much intervention due to induction that its a terrible experience but i dont know whats going to happen and i know no one can predict that for me. I just had it all in my head it was going to be a wonderful, calm experience at home. Everyone else is getting impatient with me and i think they're thinking im being selfish but its me who has to go through it all and i want it on my terms. Everyone keeps saying baby will come when its ready, but if im induced then it wont be. Off to write down my questions, come on BH turn into a real contraction already!!!

Klinda · 30/01/2012 15:24

Hi everyone,
I have actually had my baby! She decided to appear 40 + 9! Waters broke at 6.45am, had a few mildish contractions and thought we should think about getting the boys off to our friends when suddenly I came over all strange and gave birth on our new cream carpet with no one but my husband to catch her and 999 talking us through what to do. The most mad end to my long drawn out wait.
DD1 is super cute and lovely and we are just trying to come to terms with the world's speediest delivery.
Wishing you all tons of luck and just remember it can all happen VERY suddenly!
xxxx

morethemerrier · 30/01/2012 16:16

Congratulations Klinda! Grin

That's fantastic, well done to you both and what a story to tell her when she is older!

Ooooppps about the carpet but I am sure in the grand scheme of things its a small price to pay for the safe delivery of your DD!

Your husband has joined an elite band of men who have delivered their own baby, have you decided on a name yet? Something fitting for the girl who turned up late but certainly made an entrance!

A sign of things to come maybe!

Fingers crossed and thoughts to Preggo, will be looking out for her announcement! Grin

mamarara · 30/01/2012 16:22

Wow klinda - congratulations! That is great news! Delivery sounds epic as well. Yippee.

Hope all going ok for you today preggo - thinking of you lady.

Nothing doing here apart from me sulking but otherwise nada. Sigh.

More babies please!

PreggoEggo · 30/01/2012 18:01

oh klinda WOW that is soo amazing and what a story!!!!!!! Huge congrats!!!

hi ladies, i see a few of you still here... (including me!!). Had a long day at the hospital (6 hours!) but I have moved my induction to thursday with agreement on monitoring. At least I have time to mentally prepare for induction. But i am determined to have baby by then!!!

Good luck ladies!!! Get those bumps out!
